Halvdan Holbø (4 May 1907 in Vågå, Oppland – 21 September 1995) was a Norwegian painter. He was born in Vågå as a son of Kristen Holbø. He studied under Søren Onsager, Anders C. Svarstad, Halfdan Strøm and Jean Heiberg, and spent time in Paris. Halvdan Eyvind Stokke (20 November 1900 – 15 December 1977), birth name Halvdan Eyvind Johannessen, commonly known as H. E. Stokke was a Norwegian railway director and Mayor of Oslo. Biography He was born in Fredrikstad in Østfold to Anton Johannessen (1857–1936) and his wife Helen Anderson (1865–1944). In the 1920s, he studied telegraphy in Oslo and was employed at Telegrafverket from 1920 to 1945. From 1945 to 1948, he was State Secretary at the Ministry of Transport and Communications. He was employed as Director General of the Norwegian State Railways (NSB) from 1951 to 1966. Stokke was a member of Fredrikstad city council 1928–29 and Aker municipal council 1932–1948. Halda Watch Company is a Swedish manufacturer of high-end watches. It was founded in 1887 by Henning Hammarlund in Svängsta. History Halda was founded in 1887 by the factory owner Henning Hammarlund (1857-1922) in order to primarily produce pocket watches. Its name is formed by a contraction of the founder's surname -Hammarlund( a). The first pocket watches, called ''Haldauren,'' were sold in 1889. In 1893, they were rewarded two medals at the World Exhibition in Chicago. In 1890, Halda also began to produce typewriters and taximeters. After World War II, Hammarlund developed new techniques for the manufacturing of typewriters and taxi meters due to the decrease in demand for pocket watches. After financial problems, the pocket watch production was closed in 1917. From opening until closing, about 8,000 pocket watches were manufactured. Halvdan Skard (born 1 December 1939) is a Norwegian politician for the Labour Party. He was born in Oslo as a son of Åse Gruda Skard and Sigmund Skard, and through Åse the grandson of Halvdan Koht and Karen Grude Koht. He has two sisters Torild Skard and Målfrid Grude Flekkøy, who are twins, and himself has a twin brother Åsmund. He grew up in Trondheim, but when World War II reached Norway in 1940 the family fled to the United States via Sweden, the Soviet Union and Japan, returning in 1945. He later finished his secondary education at Oslo Cathedral School. He studied at the University of Wisconsin, Madison from 1962 to 1963 and in Paris from 1969 to 1970. He graduated with the cand.philol. degree from the University of Oslo in 1972. He joined the Labour Party in 1965, and became involved in local politics, first in Stavanger and later in Bærum. Halvdan Aarsrud
Halvdan Aarsrud (29 September 1878 – 25 July 1925) was a Norwegian bailiff and politician for the Labour Party. He was born in Våler, Hedmark as a son of farmer and politician Hermann Hansen Aarsrud (1837–1927) and Amalie Lundeby (1849–1915). After finishing primary school and county school, he graduated from Jønsberg Agricultural School. In 1907, he settled as a farmer in Våler, first at the farm Nervåle and later at Sole. From 1918, he was also the bailiff of Våler; and he was the director of the local savings bank. In Våler, he was a member of the municipal council from 1913 to 1925, serving as mayor from 1913 to 1918. He was also a member of the school board and county roads committee. He chaired the constituency branch of the Labour Party in Solør. In the 1915 parliamentary election he was fielded as the running mate of Labour's candidate Ivar Hvamstad, and with 3,679 votes Hvamstad edged out the closest challenger, Liberal Per Aasness with a wide margin.
