Halle-Booienhoven
Halle-Booienhoven is a section of the municipality of Zoutleeuw, in the province of Flemish Brabant, Belgium. It was a municipality in its own right before the merger of the municipalities in 1977. Etymology *Halle – Old forms: circa 1050 ''Hala'', 1107 ''Halle'', 1139 ''Hallo''. It comes from the Germanic word halha, which means "bend in the highland". A series of hilltops are lined up from Velm to Halle-Bisjeshoven. Between the peaks with a height of 83.75 and 80 meters is an outcrop, after which Halle was named. *Booienhoven – Old forms: 1235 ''boedenhoeven'', 1350 ''boedenhouen'' (read: -hoven), 1357 ''in bodenhouen'' (read: -hoven), etc. and with expulsion of d Boijenhouen in 1645. Zoutleeuw
Zoutleeuw (; french: Léau ) is a municipality and city in the Hageland, in the extreme east of the Belgian province of Flemish Brabant. On 1 January 2018 the municipality had 8,498 inhabitants. The total area is 46.73 km2, giving a population density of 182 inhabitants per km2. The name ''Leeuw'' means "lion", to which ''Zout'' ("salt") was added from the 16th century in recognition of the town's right to levy a salt tax. Paul Kempeneers
Paul Kempeneers (born in Tienen on December 9, 1935) is a Belgian philologist and linguist. As a teacher, he published mostly didactic works, such as guides to correct Dutch, books about Dutch spelling and Dutch grammar. In 1970 he wrote a science fiction novel for children, named "Phantoms from space". In 1982, he was promoted to doctor in the philology of Germanic languages, with an essay on the hydronymy of the rivers Dijle and Nete. He became the principal of a school for adult education in 1984. From the second half of the seventies on, he mainly wrote books and publications about the history of the municipality Tienen.
