Halland Battalion
Halland Battalion ( sv, Hallands bataljon), designated № 28, was an infantry unit of the Swedish Army that was active in various forms from 1813 to 1901. The unit was based in Halmstad Garrison in Halmstad. History Halland Battalion was raised on 14 May 1813, under the name of ''Hallands läns första infanteribataljon'' ("Halland County First Infantry Battalion"). From 1813 to 1835, the battalion was partly subordinated to Älvsborg Regiment. On 30 October 1818, the battalion adopted the name of Halland Infantry Battalion. In 1835, the battalion was separated from Älvsborg Regiment, and formed an independent unit. On 1 January 1887, the name Halland Battalion was adopted. On 31 December 1901, the battalion was disbanded as an independent unit, and from 1 January 1902 it was amalgamated with Värmland Rifle Corps (''Värmlands fältjägarkår'') and formed Vaxholm Grenadier Regiment. The Swedish Army ( sv, svenska armén) is the land force of the Swedish Armed Forces. History Svea Life Guards dates back to the year 1521, when the men of Dalarna chose 16 young able men as body guards for the insurgent nobleman Gustav Vasa in the Swedish War of Liberation against the Danish-dominated Union of Kalmar, thus making the present-day Life Guards one of the world's oldest regiments still on active duty. Älvsborg Regiment
The Älvsborg Regiment ( sv, Älvsborgs regemente), designation I 15 and I 15/Fo 34, was a Swedish Army infantry regiment that traces its origins back 1624. It was disbanded in 1998. The regiment's soldiers were originally recruited from the provinces of Västergötland, and it was later garrisoned there in the town Borås. Heraldry and traditions Colours, standards and guidons The regiment has carried a number of colours over the years. On 24 June 1854, the then crown prince, later King Charles XV presented the last battalion colours to the regiment. They were so called Oscar I type, and were presented at a summit on Axevalla heath. In 1904 the regiment adopted the 1st battalion's colour as regimental colour (which has been hanging in ''Älvsborgsmässen'' ("Älvsborg Mess") at Gothenburg Garrison since 1998). Vaxholm Grenadier Regiment ( sv, Vaxholms grenadjärregemente), also I 26, was a Swedish Army infantry regiment that was active in various forms 1902–1927. The unit was based on Rindö in Vaxholm. History The Vaxholm Grenadier Regiment was formed in 1902 when the Värmland Rifle Corps (''Värmlands fältjägarkår'', No 26) and Halland Battalion (No 28) were amalgamated as proscribed in the Defence Act of 1901. The regiment would act as infantry in the Vaxholm Fortress and initially had two battalions, but was increased in the Defence Act of 1914 to three battalions. The regiment’s conscripts mainly came from the Stockholm area. As a consequence of the Defence Act of 1925, the regiment was disbanded on 31 December 1927.
