Halfa is an unincorporated community in Emmet County, Iowa, Emmet County, Iowa, United States. History Halfa was platted in 1899. It was named after Wadi Halfa, in the Sudan. A post office was established in Halfa in 1900, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1932. Halfa's population was 52 in 1925. Emmet County is a county located in the U.S. state of Iowa. As of the 2020 census, the population was 9,388. The county seat is Estherville. History Emmet County was created by authority of the Iowa Legislature in 1851. There were finally enough settlers in the area to organize the county in 1859. Wādī Ḥalfā ( ar, وادي حلفا) is a city in the Northern state of Sudan on the shores of Lake Nubia near the border with Egypt. It is the terminus of a rail line from Khartoum and the point where goods are transferred from rail to ferries going down the lake. As of 2007, the city had a population of 15,725.
