Hal Linden
Hal Linden (born Harold Lipshitz, March 20, 1931) is an American stage and screen actor, television director and musician. Linden began his career as a big band musician and singer in the 1950s. After a stint in the United States Army, he began an acting career, first working in summer stock and off-Broadway productions. Linden found success on Broadway when he replaced Sydney Chaplin in the musical '' Bells Are Ringing''. In 1962, he starred as Billy Crocker in the off-Broadway revival of the Cole Porter musical ''Anything Goes''. In 1971, he won a Best Actor Tony Award for his portrayal of Mayer Rothschild in the musical '' The Rothschilds''. In 1974, Linden landed his best-known role as the title character in the television comedy series ''Barney Miller''. FYI (TV Series)
''FYI'' was an information series seen on the American Broadcasting Company, ABC network in the early 1980s. Hosted by Hal Linden (at the time the star of ''Barney Miller''), the program features answers to questions that many viewers ask, from common questions such as, "What's the leading cause of burns in children?" to questions not many ask, but may be interesting to know, like "Can a child dance his/her way to better grades?" just to name a couple. With each show lasting sixty seconds (including intros and outros), ''FYI'' was seen three times a day on weekdays, following ABC's popular soaps ''Ryan’s Hope'', ''One Life to Live'' and ''General Hospital'', using a formula not unlike ABC's Saturday morning cartoon, Saturday morning mini-programs, such as ''Time for Timer'', ''The Bod Squad'' and ''Schoolhouse Rock!'' Sammy Kaye
Sammy Kaye (born Samuel Zarnocay Jr.; March 13, 1910 – June 2, 1987) was an American bandleader and songwriter, whose tag line, "Swing and Sway with Sammy Kaye", became one of the most famous of the Big Band Era. The expression springs from his first hit single in 1937, " Swing and Sway" (U.S. #15). His signature tune was " Harbor Lights", a number-one hit from late 1950. Biography Kaye, born in Lakewood, Ohio, United States, graduated from Rocky River High School in Rocky River, Ohio. At Ohio University in Athens, Ohio he was a member of Theta Chi fraternity. Kaye could play the saxophone and the clarinet, but he never featured himself as a soloist on either one. A leader of one of the so-called "Sweet" bands of the Big Band Era, he made a large number of records for Vocalion Records, RCA Victor, Columbia Records, Bell Records, and the American Decca record label. Linden is a city in southeastern Union County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. It is part of the New York Metropolitan Area, located about southwest of Manhattan and bordering Staten Island, a borough of New York City, across the Arthur Kill.
