FYI (TV Series)
''FYI'' was an information series seen on the American Broadcasting Company, ABC network in the early 1980s. Hosted by Hal Linden (at the time the star of ''Barney Miller''), the program features answers to questions that many viewers ask, from common questions such as, "What's the leading cause of burns in children?" to questions not many ask, but may be interesting to know, like "Can a child dance his/her way to better grades?" just to name a couple. Hal Linden
Hal Linden (born Harold Lipshitz, March 20, 1931) is an American stage and screen actor, television director and musician. Linden began his career as a big band musician and singer in the 1950s. After a stint in the United States Army, he began an acting career, first working in summer stock and off-Broadway productions. Linden found success on Broadway when he replaced Sydney Chaplin in the musical '' Bells Are Ringing''. In 1962, he starred as Billy Crocker in the off-Broadway revival of the Cole Porter musical ''Anything Goes''. In 1971, he won a Best Actor Tony Award for his portrayal of Mayer Rothschild in the musical '' The Rothschilds''. In 1974, Linden landed his best-known role as the title character in the television comedy series ''Barney Miller''. ''Barney Miller'' is an American sitcom television series set in a New York City Police Department police station on East 6th St in Greenwich Village. The series was broadcast on ABC Network from January 23, 1975, to May 20, 1982. It was created by Danny Arnold and Theodore J. Flicker. Noam Pitlik directed the majority of the episodes. It spawned a spin-off series, ''Fish'', that ran from February 5, 1977, to May 18, 1978, focusing on the character Philip K. Fish. ''One Life to Live'' (often abbreviated as ''OLTL'') is an American soap opera broadcast on the ABC television network for more than 43 years, from July 15, 1968, to January 13, 2012, and then on the internet as a web series on Hulu and iTunes via Prospect Park from April 29 to August 19, 2013. "Saturday-morning cartoon" is a colloquial term for the original animated series programming that was typically scheduled on Saturday and Sunday mornings in the United States on the "Big Three" television networks. The genre's popularity had a broad peak from the mid-1960s through the mid-1990s; after that point it declined, in the face of changing cultural norms, increased competition from formats available at all times, and heavier regulations. Time For Timer
''Time for Timer'' is a series of seven short public service announcements broadcast on Saturday mornings on the ABC television network starting in 1975. The animated spots feature Timer, a tiny cartoon character who represents the sense of time in the human body. Timer was in charge of when a person felt it was time to eat, time to sleep, etc. He carried a large pocket watch inside of him that set off an alarm whenever something was about to happen. Usually wearing a bow tie and top hat, Timer looks like a little yellow meatball with a face and has long slender arms and legs. Timer has limited magical powers, such as teleportation, which he uses to exit his host's body from time to time. ''The Bod Squad'' is a series of short public service announcements broadcast on Saturday mornings on the ABC television network, from 1974 through 1988. These thirty-second and one-minute segments promoted healthy nutrition and personal hygiene through humorous animation and catchy music with clever lyrics. The shorts were written by Lynn Ahrens and animated by DePatie–Freleng Enterprises. The segments generally appeared at half-hour intervals, interspersed with regular commercials, between Saturday morning cartoon programs. ''Schoolhouse Rock!'' is an American interstitial programming series of animated musical educational short films (and later, videos) that aired during the Saturday morning children's programming block on the U.S. television network ABC. The themes covered included grammar, science, economics, history, mathematics, and civics. The series' original run lasted from 1973 to 1984; it was later revived from 1993 to 1996.
