Gunther Von Hagens
Gunther von Hagens (born Gunther Gerhard Liebchen; 10 January 1945) is a German anatomist who invented the technique for preserving biological tissue specimens called plastination. He has organized numerous ''Body Worlds'' public exhibitions and occasional live demonstrations of his and his colleagues' work, and has traveled worldwide to promote its educational value. The sourcing of biological specimens for his exhibits has been controversial, but he insists that informed consent was given before the death of donors, and extensive documentation of this has been made available. Early life and education Hagens was born Gunther Gerhard Liebchen in Alt-Skalden (now called Skalmierzyce) near Ostrowo, Reichsgau Wartheland, in German-annexed Poland. Bradin Carl Hagens (born May 12, 1989) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Rakuten Monkeys of the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL). He has played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Arizona Diamondbacks and for the Hiroshima Toyo Carp of Nippon Professional Baseball. Career Arizona Diamondbacks Hagens was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the sixth round of the 2009 Major League Baseball Draft out of Merced College. He was called up to the majors for the first time and made his debut on August 14, 2014. James Hagens (born November 3, 2006) is an American junior ice hockey player for the USA Hockey National Team Development Program (NTDP). He is considered a top prospect eligible for the 2025 NHL entry draft. Playing career Hagens played for the USA Hockey National Team Development Program (NTDP) during the 2022–23 USHL season, 2022–23 season, where he ranked second on the team in scoring with 26 goals and 40 assists in 43 games with the under-17 team. He also recorded seven goals and 12 assists in 17 games with the under-18 team. He competed at the 2024 BioSteel All-American Game where he recorded a goal and an assist and was subsequently named the game's MVP. Erik Hagens (born 21 April 1940) is a Danish painter and illustrator. He is best known for his 40-metre-long mural ''Esbjerg-evangeliet. Biography Born in Copenhagen, Hagens is the son of the civil engineer Poul Gunnar Hagens and Elsa Margareta Silwer, a weaver. He studied painting at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts from 1961 to 1966 and was trained as a lithographer at the experimental art school, Eks-skolen. In the 1960s, he became an active participant in the cross-border experiments in art and life. From the 1970s, his works have been inspired by the development of the consumer society with the effects of industrialization, pollution, road traffic and entertainment centres as, for example, in his 1977 painting ''Københavns Vinterbane'' (Copenhagen's Winter Track) based on an annual cycling event in Copenhagen.
