Haaken Gulleson
Haaken Gulleson was a Swedish painter and workshop leader in the early 16th century. His signature is found on six sculptures in southern Norrland. He has long been considered to be solely a sculptor, but recent research has seen him as a painter. He ran a workshop where his apprentices contributed to his work. Biography He lived in Enånger parish in Gävleborg County, Sweden. His sculpture is in Enånger Old Church and is signed and dated in the year 1520. Another sculpture is a small Madonna image in the Bollnäs church. Norrland
Norrland (, "Northland", originally ''Norrlanden'' or "the Northlands") is the northernmost, largest and least populated of the three traditional lands of Sweden, consisting of nine provinces. Although Norrland does not serve any administrative purposes, it continues to exist as a historical, cultural, and geographic region; it is often referred to in everyday language, e.g., in weather forecasts. Several related Norrland dialects form a distinct subset of dialects of the Swedish language separate from those to its south. Norrland consists of the majority of the Swedish landmass at about 60% of the land area, but only has about 12% of the country's population. Enånger is a locality situated in Hudiksvall Municipality, Gävleborg County, Sweden with 629 inhabitants in 2018. Gävleborg County
Gävleborg County ( sv, Gävleborgs län) is a county or '' län'' on the Baltic Sea coast of Sweden. It borders the counties of Uppsala, Västmanland, Dalarna, Jämtland and Västernorrland. The capital is Gävle. Provinces Gävleborg County encompasses the provinces of Gästrikland and Hälsingland, except for the northwestern part of the latter which is located in Jämtland County, most notably Ytterhogdal. Enånger Old Church
The Enånger Old Church (''Enångers gamla kyrka'' in Swedish language, Swedish) is a well-preserved medieval stone church built in the second half of the 15th century, located in Enånger, Sweden. The interiors are decorated with frescoes painted by the Tierp school in 1485. The pulpit was constructed by two masters from Stockholm, dating from 1737. The arched roof inside the church shows male and female saints and angels. The church has changed little since the 15th century. The walls and arches are decorated with murals that are some of Sweden's best preserved paintings from the middle ages. The town built a newer church to replace this structure in 1858. Bollnäs Church
Bollnäs () is a Swedish locality and the seat of Bollnäs Municipality, in Gävleborg County, Sweden. It had 26,937 inhabitants in 2017 History The first recording of Bollnäs in writing is from 1312 when a vicar named Ingemund referred to it as ''Baldenaes'', meaning "the large isthmus," referring to the isthmus into a nearby lake. Before becoming known as Bollnäs, its name was ''Bro By'' (lit. Bridge Village). Bollnäs has a station along the Northern Railline (''Norra Stambanan''), which it was connected to in 1878. The town became a main base for further northern expansion of the railroad. In 1884, it became a primary maintenance and repair workshop for the railroad. The railroad was the largest employer in Bollnäs for the greater part of the 20th century, until the 1990s when it was closed due to its location being no longer optimal.
