HMS Censeur
''Censeur'' was a 74-gun ''Pégase''-class ship of the line of the French Navy, launched in 1782. She served during the last months of the American War of Independence, and survived to see action in the French Revolutionary Wars. She was briefly captured by the British, but was retaken after a few months and taken back into French service as ''Révolution''. She served until 1799, when she was transferred to the Spanish Navy, but was found to be rotten and was broken up. Construction and early service ''Censeur'' was laid down at Rochefort in August 1781 to a design by Antoine Groignard. Launched on 24 August 1782, she had entered service by October that year. She was one of the ships captured during the occupation of Toulon in 1793, though she was left to fall into Republican hands intact in the withdrawal. Pierre Martin (French Navy Officer)
Admiral Pierre Martin (29 January 1752, in Louisbourg – 1 November 1820, in Rochefort) was a French Navy officer and admiral. Biography Youth Pierre Martin was born to a Canadian family of Louisbourg. In 1759, his family fled to Rochefort as his hometown was taken by the British during the Seven Years' War. Martin served as an apprentice on the fluit ''Saint Esprit''. He received instructions in hydrography and became an aspiring pilot in 1769. He sailed to the Indian Ocean. In 1775, serving aboard the frigate ''Terpsichore'', he lost an eye in an accident. On 2 February 1776, he married Magdelaine Schimellé. A daughter, Marguerite, was born within the year. French Frigate Lutine (1779)
''Lutine'' was a frigate which served in both the French Navy and the Royal Navy. She was launched by the French in 1779. The ship passed to British control in 1793 and was taken into service as HMS ''Lutine''. She sank among the West Frisian Islands during a storm in 1799. She was built as a French with 32 guns, and was launched at Toulon in 1779. During the French Revolution, ''Lutine'' came under French Royalist control. On 18 December 1793, she was one of sixteen ships handed over to a British fleet at the end of the Siege of Toulon, to prevent her being captured by the French Republicans. In 1795, she was rebuilt by the British as a fifth-rate frigate with 38 guns. She served thereafter in the North Sea, where she was part of the blockade of Amsterdam. Commodore (Cdre) is a rank of the Royal Navy above captain and below rear admiral. It has a NATO ranking code of OF-6. The rank is equivalent to brigadier in the British Army and Royal Marines and to air commodore in the Royal Air Force. Commodore has only been a substantive rank in the Royal Navy since 1997. In maritime transport terms, and most commonly in sailing, jury-rigged is an adjective, a noun, and a verb. It can describe the actions of temporary makeshift running repairs made with only the tools and materials on board; and the subsequent results thereof. Admiral Sir John Gore, KCB (9 February 1772, County Kilkenny, Ireland – 21 August 1836, Datchet, Buckinghamshire) was a British naval commander of the 18th and 19th centuries. His father was Colonel John Gore. Admiral William Hotham, 1st Baron Hotham (1736–1813) was an officer in the Royal Navy. He was the son of Sir Beaumont Hotham (died 1771), a lineal descendant of Sir John Hotham.
