Crosland Moor is a district of the town of Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, England. Location It begins 1 mile (1.6 km) to the south west of Huddersfield town centre. Crosland Moor begins at the junction of the Manchester Road A62 and Blackmoorfoot Road the main thoroughfare. The area rises up the hillside to overlook the areas of Milnsbridge and Golcar in the Colne Valley. Cowlersley
Cowlersley is a district west of Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, England. It is situated between Milnsbridge and Linthwaite and south of the A62 and the River Colne. The name Cowlersley means 'a charcoal burner's wood' and was first recorded in 1226. The district has a primary school which was inspected by Ofsted in 2013 and listed as "requiring improvement". Berry Brow
Berry Brow is a semi-rural village in West Yorkshire, England, situated about south of Huddersfield. It lies on the eastern bank of the Holme Valley and partially straddles the A616 road to Honley and Penistone. The village has a Victorian infants' and nursery school, some shops and a railway platform on the Penistone Line. It lies between Armitage Bridge, Taylor Hill and Newsome. Berry Brow is served by two public houses (The Railway and The Golden Fleece) and a liberal club. The site of a third public house, The Black Bull, was converted into an Indian restaurant in 1994, and received planning permission to expand capacity in 2011. Scammonden
Scammonden or Dean Head was a village close to Huddersfield, in the Dean Head Valley, England, before the valley was flooded to create Scammonden Reservoir in the 1960s. The M62 motorway crosses the dam wall and then passes through a cutting to the west over which Scammonden Bridge carries the B6114. The Chapel of St Bartholomew still exists, as does the old vicarage, which is now home to Scammonden Sailing Club. History Historically in the West Riding of Yorkshire, Scammonden or Dean Head was a township covering more than 2,000 acres. In the 1870s it had a church, a Baptist chapel, a national school, a post office and 190 houses. Industry in the village included cotton-spinning and woollen manufacture and there were freestone quarries. A motorway and dam across the Dean Head Valley was proposed in the early 1960s and work began in 1964. Salendine Nook
Salendine Nook is an area of Huddersfield in West Yorkshire, England. It is to the north-west of central Huddersfield, and is bordered to the north-east by Laund Hill, Weather Hill and Low Hill and to the south-west by the natural scar of Longwood Edge, above the suburb of Longwood. Longwood Edge affords a panoramic view across the Colne Valley to Crosland Moor on the other side. Salendine Nook lies between Quarmby and Outlane on a tributary to the textile industries' Packhorse road across the Pennines. Outlane is a village in Kirklees, West Yorkshire, England, situated approximately south-west of Elland, north-west of Huddersfield and south of Halifax. The village is situated next to the M62 motorway near Junction 23 and straddles the Kirklees and Calderdale borough boundary; while the bulk of the village is within Kirklees, the north-western part of the village is part of Calderdale and the Stainland & District civil parish. The A640 Huddersfield to Rochdale road passes through the village.
