HBRA
Thomas H. Beeby (born 1941) is an American architect who was a member of the " Chicago Seven" architects and has been Chairman Emeritus of Hammond, Beeby, Rupert, Ainge Architects (HBRA) for over thirty-nine years. He is a representative of New Urbanism and New Classical Architecture. Biography and career An Oak Park, Illinois native, Beeby received a bachelor's degree in architecture from Cornell in 1964 and master’s from Yale in 1965. In 1971, Beeby and James Hammond founded Hammond Beeby & Associates (now HBRA). After teaching for six years at the Illinois Institute of Technology and serving as Director of the University of Illinois at Chicago School of Architecture, he served from 1985 to 1992 as Dean of the Yale School of Architecture, where he remains an Adjunct Professor. Bass Library
The Anne T. & Robert M. Bass Library, formerly Cross Campus Library, is a Yale University Library building holding frequently-used materials in the humanities and social sciences. Located underneath Yale University's Cross Campus, it was completed in 1971 in a minimalist-functionalist style designed by Edward Larrabee Barnes. In 2007, Thomas Beeby led a multimillion-dollar renovation of the library that extensively reconfigured and refurbished its interior space. In addition to its book collection, Bass contains many reading and studying spaces, a large computer lab, and an area for books held in reserve. New Classical Architecture
New Classical architecture, New Classicism or the New Classical movement is a contemporary movement in architecture that continues the practice of Classical architecture. It is sometimes considered the modern continuation of Neoclassical architecture, even though other styles might be cited as well, such as Gothic, Baroque, Renaissance or even non-Western styles - often referenced and recreated from a postmodern perspective as opposed to being strict revival styles. The design and construction of buildings in ever-evolving classical styles continued throughout the 20th and 21st centuries, even as modernist and other non-classical theories broke with the classical language of architecture. Conrad Sulzer Regional Library
Conrad Sulzer Regional Library is one of two regional libraries in the Chicago Public Library system in Chicago, in the U.S. state of Illinois. It was named for Conrad Sulzer, the first white settler in what became Lakeview Township, whose family held multiple civic posts and established a foundation. The library is located in the Lincoln Square neighborhood at 4455 N. Lincoln Avenue. It is a full-service library and ADA compliant. Hale Library
Hale Library is the main library building on Kansas State University's Manhattan, Kansas campus. History On October 5, 1997, Hale Library was officially dedicated, ending an 80-year architectural odyssey and ushering in a new world of library resources, both traditional and electronic. The original college library was completed in 1927, making it the first building on the Kansas State Agricultural College's campus devoted solely to housing the library. The historic library has a room of major interest, called the "Great Room" which features murals by David Hicks Overmyer completed in 1934 and highlighting the Agricultural College's strengths of "1) science and industry, 2) agricultural and animal husbandry 3) the arts nd4) the home". Driehaus Prize
The Driehaus Architecture Prize, fully named The Richard H. Driehaus Prize at the University of Notre Dame, is a global award to honor a major contributor in the field of contemporary traditional and classical architecture. The Driehaus Prize was conceived as an alternative to the predominantly modernist Pritzker Prize. It was initiated by fund manager and philanthropist Richard Driehaus and established in 2003 by the ''Richard H. Driehaus Charitable Lead Trust''. It is presented annually through the classical-teaching School of Architecture at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana, United States.
