Günter Hermann
Günter Hermann (born 5 December 1960) is a German former professional footballer who played as a defensive midfielder, mainly with Werder Bremen. He was also part of the West Germany national team that was crowned World champion in 1990. Club career During nearly ten professional seasons, Hermann played with SV Werder Bremen. He made his Bundesliga debut on 11 December 1982, in a 2–1 win at VfL Bochum, but it would be only his only appearance of the season, and he would also amass a single one in the following. After a slow start, Hermann became a very important defensive member, often partnering legendary Miroslav Votava in central midfield. In the 1987–88 season, he played in 30 matches (receiving only one yellow card), as Werder won the national championship after 23 years. Miroslav "Mirko" Votava (born 25 April 1956) is a German retired footballer and manager. A defensive midfielder of stamina and tactical awareness, he played 546 matches in the Bundesliga (fourth in the all-time list at the time of his retirement), retiring at the age of 41. Most of his professional career was spent in with Werder Bremen, with which he won a total of five titles – he also played eight years with Borussia Dortmund and spent three seasons outside German football with Atlético Madrid. The UEFA Cup Winners' Cup was a European football club competition contested annually by the winners of domestic cup competitions. The cup was, chronologically, the second seasonal inter-European club competition organised by UEFA. The tournament ran for 39 seasons, with the final edition held in 1998–99, after which it was discontinued. Paul Steiner
Paul Steiner (born 23 January 1957) is a German retired professional footballer who played mainly as a central defender. Club career Born in Waldbrunn, Baden-Württemberg, Steiner began playing football in his hometown with TSV Strümpfelbrunn. He started his professional career in 1975, going on to spend four seasons in the second division with SV Waldhof Mannheim. Steiner appeared in 349 games in the Bundesliga, scoring 27 times from 1979 until 1991 with MSV Duisburg and 1. FC Köln. The 1992 European Cup Winners' Cup Final was a Association football, football match contested between SV Werder Bremen, Werder Bremen of Germany (who qualified for the tournament through the West German berth) and AS Monaco FC, Monaco of France.
