Gérard Perron
Gérard Perron (14 November 1920 – 2 April 1981) was a Social Credit party member of the House of Commons of Canada. He was a hotel operator by career. He was first elected at the Beauce riding in the 1962 general election and re-elected there in 1963. From 1963 until the end of his final term, the 26th Canadian Parliament, his party was known as the Ralliement créditiste. Jean-Paul Racine
Jean-Paul Racine (8 February 1928 – 13 January 1988) was a Liberal party member of the House of Commons of Canada. He was born in Saint-Honoré-de-Shenley, Quebec and became a lumber merchant and manufacturer by career. He was first elected at the Beauce riding in the 1958 general election and served one term before being defeated there in 1962 by Gérard Perron of the Social Credit party. Maurice Dupras
Maurice Dupras (13 September 1923 – 31 December 2009) was a Liberal party member of the House of Commons of Canada. He was a businessman and insurance broker by career. Dupras was born in Saint-Jérôme, Quebec. He served in World War II with the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1942 to 1945. He won election at the Labelle electoral district in a November 1970 by-election and was re-elected there in the 1972, 1974, 1979 and 1980 federal elections. Labelle was a federal electoral district in Quebec, Canada, that was represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1896 to 1988. This riding was created in 1892 from parts of the County of Ottawa riding. The electoral district was abolished in 1987 when it was redistributed into the new riding of Laurentides and the existing riding of Pontiac—Gatineau—Labelle. 1972 Canadian Federal Election
The 1972 Canadian federal election was held on October 30, 1972, to elect members of the House of Commons of Canada of the 29th Parliament of Canada. It resulted in a slim victory for the governing Liberal Party, which won 109 seats, compared to 107 seats for the opposition Progressive Conservatives. A further 48 seats were won by other parties and independents. On election night, the results appeared to give 109 seats to the Tories, but once the counting had finished the next day, the final results gave the Liberals a minority government and left the New Democratic Party led by David Lewis holding the balance of power. Historically in Quebec, Canada, there were a number of political parties that were part of the Canadian social credit movement. There were various parties at different times with different names at the provincial level, all broadly following the social credit philosophy; at various times they had varying degrees of affiliation with the Social Credit Party of Canada at the federal level.
