Gwyn Jenkins
General Gwyn Jenkins, is a senior Royal Marines officer, serving as Vice-Chief of the Defence Staff since August 2022. He was concurrently appointed Commandant General Royal Marines in November 2022. Early life and education Jenkins was educated at Malmesbury School. He graduated from the Military College Shrivenham in 2004, where he completed a master's degree in Defence Studies. Military career Jenkins was commissioned into the Royal Marines in 1990. He spent time as a junior officer in the Commando Logistics Regiment and on operations in Northern Ireland with 42 Commando. Jenkins became commanding officer of his unit in 2009. He was promoted to colonel and deployed to Afghanistan in 2011 before becoming Military Assistant to the Prime Minister in 2012. Royal Marines
The Corps of Royal Marines (RM), also known as the Royal Marines Commandos, are the UK's special operations capable commando force, amphibious light infantry and also one of the five fighting arms of the Royal Navy. The Most Honourable Order of the Bath is a British order of chivalry founded by George I on 18 May 1725. The name derives from the elaborate medieval ceremony for appointing a knight, which involved bathing (as a symbol of purification) as one of its elements. The knights so created were known as "Knights of the Bath". George I "erected the Knights of the Bath into a regular Military Order". Admiral Sir Timothy Peter Fraser, is a retired senior Royal Navy officer who served as Vice-Chief of the Defence Staff from May 2019 to August 2022. Early life Fraser was educated at Lord Williams's School, a comprehensive school in Thame, Oxfordshire. Naval career Fraser joined the Royal Navy in 1982 and was commissioned a sub-lieutenant on 1 January 1984. He captained the patrol craft from 1989 to 1991, and served as captain of the destroyer from 1997 to 1998 and of the destroyer from 2001 to 2003. Rear Admiral Iain Stuart Lower, is a senior Royal Navy officer. He was Assistant Chief of the Naval Staff (Policy) 2020-2022. Naval career Lower joined the Royal Navy on 1 May 1992. General Sir Gordon Kenneth Messenger, (born 15 April 1962) is a retired senior Royal Marines officer who served as Vice-Chief of the Defence Staff from May 2016 to May 2019.
