Guintacan Island
Kinatarkan, also spelled as Kinatarcan and also known as Guintarcan, is an island of the province of Cebu in the Philippines. It lies about off the west coast of Cebu and northeast from Bantayan Island. The island is within the municipality of Santa Fe and comprises three barangays: Hagdan, Kinatarkan and Langub. The island has an elongated elliptical shape, about long (N-S) and wide (E-W). Offshore are numerous coral reefs and seagrass beds. The topography of the island is hilly and along the eastern coastline is a large lagoon. The coast of the island is dominated by numerous towering rock cliffs, which are interrupted by some flat beaches. The vegetation of the island consists of dense tropical vegetation, in the interior there are also large intensive agricultural areas. The Visayan Sea is a sea in the Philippines surrounded by the islands of the Visayas. It is bounded by the islands Masbate to the north, Panay to the west, Leyte to the east, and Cebu and Negros to the south. Central Visayas ( ceb, Tunga-tungang Kabisay-an; tl, Gitnang Kabisayaan) is an administrative region in the Philippines, numerically designated as Region VII. Santa Fe, officially the Municipality of Santa Fe ( ceb, Lungsod sa Santa Fe; tgl, Bayan ng Santa Fe), is a 4th class municipality in the province of Cebu, Philippines. Tropical vegetation is any vegetation in tropical latitudes. Plant life that occurs in climates that are warm year-round is in general more biologically diverse that in other latitudes. Some tropical areas may receive abundant rain the whole year round, but others have long dry seasons which last several months and may vary in length and intensity with geographic location.
