Gufram is an Italian furniture manufacturer known for avant-garde, conceptual, witty, and Pop-art influenced designs; the unconventional use of industrial materials; collaborations with well known architects and designers; and the contribution its products made to the aesthetics of the 1960s Radical period of Italian design. History Gufram was founded in 1966 by furniture manufacturer Gugliermetto Fratelli Mobile (Grosso, Torino) as a brand and creative lab for the company to experiment with modern furniture production.The Vitra Design museum site states that "the company changed its name to Gufram in 1966". Studio 65
Studio 65 (''Studiosessanta5'') is an Italian architecture studio. It was founded in 1965 in Turin as an avant-garde experimental collective of architects, designers, poets and artists. Its founders were Franco Audrito, Roberta Garosci, Enzo Bertone, Paolo Morello, and Paolo Rondelli. Studio 65 played an important role in the Radical period (design), Radical movement in Italian design in 1960-70s. Some of the most famous products designed by them is the ''Bocca'' sofa and ''Capitello'' chair''. Michael Young (industrial Designer)
Michael Young (born 23 August 1966) is a British industrial designer and creative director based in Hong Kong. He works in the areas of product, furniture and interior design with studios in Hong Kong and Brussels. He is known for unconventional use of materials and manufacturing processes, and collaborations with brands such as KEF, Coalesse and MOKE International. Alessandro Mendini
Alessandro Mendini (16 August 1931 – 18 February 2019) was an Italian designer and architect. He played an important part in the development of Italian, Postmodern, and Radical design. He also worked, aside from his artistic career, for ''Casabella'', ''Modo'' and ''Domus'' magazines. The character of his design is marked by what was his strong interest in mixing different cultures and different forms of expression; he created graphics, furniture, interiors, paintings and architecture and also wrote several articles and books. He was renowned as an enthusiastic member of jury in architectural competitions for young designers. He taught at the University of Milan. Mendini was born in Milan. Ross Lovegrove
Ross Lovegrove (born 1958 in Cardiff, Wales) is a Welsh artist and industrial designer. Biography Ross Lovegrove was born in Wales in 1958. He studied at Manchester Polytechnic (now Manchester Metropolitan University), graduating with a First Class BA in Industrial Design in 1980. In 1983, he graduated from the Royal College of Art with a Master of Design. In the early 1980s he worked with Hartmut Esslinger as a designer for frog design on projects such as Walkmans for Sony, and Computers for Apple Computers; he later moved to Paris to work for Knoll International, and also collaborated with Jean Nouvel and Phillipe Stark. in the late 1980s, he returned to London, and in 1990 he founded a practice of his own, Studio X. Job Smeets (born 19 December 1969) is a Belgian contemporary conceptual and sculptural artist and designer and founder of Studio Job based in Antwerp, Belgium. Known for producing "high-end works toying with politically loaded signifiers", he combines traditional and modern techniques to produce art and design objects. Early career Job Smeets was born in Hamont-Achel, Belgium. Before moving to Eindhoven in the Netherlands to study, he graduated cum laude in 1996 from the Eindhoven Design Academy. Snarkitecture is a New York-based collaborative practice founded by Daniel Arsham and Alex Mustonen. About Snarkitecture's work is focused on designing within existing spaces or collaboration with other artists and designers. Poltrona Frau is a furniture-maker founded in 1912 by Sardinian-born Renzo Frau in Turin, Italy, headquartered since the early 1960s in Tolentino, Italy and specializing in leather seating for interior and automotive applications. Triennale
The Triennale di Milano is a design and art museum in the Parco Sempione in Milan, in Lombardy in northern Italy. It is housed in the Palazzo dell'Arte, which was designed by Giovanni Muzio and built between 1931 and 1933; construction was financed by Antonio Bernocchi and his brothers Andrea and Michele.
