Guelph—Wellington was a provincial electoral district in Ontario, Canada, that was represented in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1999 to 2007. The riding was created in 1999 from Guelph and Wellington and abolished in 2007 back into Guelph and into Wellington—Halton Hills. Wellington (electoral District)
Wellington was a federal electoral district in Ontario, Canada, that was represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1968 to 1979. This riding was created in 1968 from parts of Wellington South and Wentworth ridings. It consisted of the City of Guelph and the Townships of Eramosa, Guelph and Puslinch in the County of Wellington; and the Township of Beverly in the County of Wentworth. It was abolished in 1979 when it was merged into Guelph riding. Wellington—Halton Hills is a provincial electoral district in western Ontario, Canada. It elects one member to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario. Guelph ( ; 2021 Canadian Census population 143,740) is a city in Southwestern Ontario, Canada. Known as "The Royal City", Guelph is roughly east of Kitchener and west of Downtown Toronto, at the intersection of Highway 6, Highway 7 and Wellington County Road 124. It is the seat of Wellington County, but is politically independent of it. Guelph began as a settlement in the 1820s, established by Scotsman John Galt, who was in Upper Canada as the first Superintendent of the Canada Company. He based the headquarters, and his home, in the community. The area – much of which became Wellington County – had been part of the Halton Block, a Crown Reserve for the Six Nations Iroquois. Puslinch, Ontario
Puslinch () is a township in south-central Ontario, Canada, in Wellington County, surrounding the south end of Guelph. The main source of production is agricultural, spring water bottling and mining. Aggregate mining has been dominant throughout the county. About half of the township is forested, and a conservation area lies to the southwest. Near the western edge of the township, just outside Cambridge, Ontario, is Puslinch Lake, the largest kettle lake in North America. It is part of the Guelph census metropolitan area. The township has its own strategic plan, with the current version dated 2015 to 2020. Guelph/Eramosa () is a township located in Wellington County, in midwestern Ontario, Canada. It partly encircles the city of Guelph, surrounding it in a continuous arc from approximately northeast to south-southwest of the city. It is part of the Guelph census metropolitan area. Wellington was an electoral riding in Ontario, Canada. It existed in various incarnations and names throughout its existence. It started as Wellington North in 1867 but was abolished in 1879 after only three terms. It was re-established as Wellington Northeast in 1926 and then changed to Wellington North in 1934 which existed until 1955 when it became Wellington-Dufferin. The name was changed again in 1975 to become Wellington-Dufferin-Peel. The 2003 Ontario general election was held on October 2, 2003, to elect the 103 members of the 38th Legislative Assembly (Members of Provincial Parliament, or "MPPs") of the Province of Ontario, Canada. Liz Sandals ( née MacNaughton; born ) is a politician in Ontario, Canada. She was a Liberal member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 2003 to 2018 who represented the ridings of Guelph—Wellington and Guelph. She served in cabinet as the President of the Treasury Board until January 17, 2018 and previously served for three years as Minister of Education in the government of Kathleen Wynne.
