Grindmother
Grindmother (born August 1948) is a Canadian grindcore singer. She has appeared on several TV and news programs, and footage from a rehearsal in 2016 has been viewed over one million times on Facebook. The name ''Grindmother'' is a melding of the grindcore subgenre and her grandmother personae. History Grindmother released her debut album, ''Age of Destruction'', in April 2016 which featured guitar by her son, Rain Forest, and drums by Tyson Apex. A live guitarist has been added to the band, with Forest handling live bass duties. On July 26, 2016, Grindmother released a cover of Sepultura's "Slave New World" via ''Decibel The decibel (symbol: dB) is a relative unit of measurement equal to one tenth of a bel (B). Slave New World
"Slave New World" is Sepultura's sixth official single, and the final of three to be taken from the album '' Chaos A.D.'', released in 1994. The lyrics were co-written by Evan Seinfeld from Sepultura's Roadrunner label-mates Biohazard. Like most of the band's singles, the song is one of the band's best-known songs and remains a concert staple to this day. A music video was filmed for the single which features the band playing on what appears to be a volcano, intercut with footage of severe human conditioning, including branding people with barcodes. This video can be found on the VHS ''Third World Chaos'', which was later released on DVD as part of ''Chaos DVD''. The title of the song is a wordplay of Aldous Huxley's 1932 dystopian novel ''Brave New World.'' The song also appears in live form on the band's releases ''Under a Pale Grey Sky'' and '' Live in São Paulo''. It also appeared as a live B-side to the "Ratamahatta" single. Grindcore
Grindcore is an extreme fusion genre of heavy metal and hardcore punk that originated in the mid-1980s, drawing inspiration from abrasive-sounding musical styles, such as thrashcore, crust punk, hardcore punk, extreme metal, and industrial. Grindcore is considered a more noise-filled style of hardcore punk while using hardcore's trademark characteristics such as heavily distorted, down-tuned guitars, grinding overdriven bass, high-speed tempo, blast beats, and vocals which consist of growls, shouts and high-pitched shrieks.
