Gregorio Conrado Álvarez
Gregorio Conrado Álvarez Armelino (26 November 1925 – 28 December 2016), also known as El Goyo, was an National Army (Uruguay), Uruguayan Army general who served as president of Uruguay from 1981 until 1985 and was the last surviving president of the Civic-military dictatorship of Uruguay, civic-military dictatorship. Early life and military career Álvarez was born in the Minas Department in 1925, later renamed Lavalleja Department, Lavalleja in 1927. He entered the Uruguayan Military Academy in 1940 and graduated as an officer of the cavalry regiment (1946-59). He became chief of the Republican Guard in Montevideo in 1962. In 1971, he was promoted to general and then named chief of the Combined Armed Forces Command that ran the counterinsurgency operation against the Tupamaros (urban guerrillas). Gregorio Marañón y Posadillo, OWL (19 May 1887 in Madrid – 27 March 1960 in Madrid) was a Spanish physician, scientist, historian, writer and philosopher. He married Dolores Moya in 1911, and they had four children (Carmen, Belén, María Isabel and Gregorio). Rossella Gregorio (born 30 August 1990) is an Italian sabre fencer, bronze medallist in the 2014 European Fencing Championships. She competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics, in sabre. Career Gregorio discovered fencing thanks to family friends who encouraged her parents to let her try the sport. She first trained at CS Salerno, where she was coached by Antonio Serra, before joining Frascati Scherma. Gregorio won the 2009 Junior European Championship in Odense. Gregorio Ricci-Curbastro (; 12January 1925) was an Italian mathematician. He is most famous as the discoverer of tensor calculus. With his former student Tullio Levi-Civita, he wrote his most famous single publication, a pioneering work on the calculus of tensors, signing it as Gregorio Ricci.
