Gregor Punchatz
Gregor Punchatz (born 1967) is an artist hired by id Software to create sculptures for the Arch-Vile, Mancubus, Revenant and Spider Mastermind monsters for the ''Doom'' video game series. He built these models using steel armatures and foam latex. Before working on the ''Doom'' models he did similar modelling work for a number of Hollywood movies, including ''A Nightmare on Elm Street 2'', ''RoboCop'', and '' RoboCop 2''. Steel
Steel is an alloy made up of iron with added carbon to improve its strength and fracture resistance compared to other forms of iron. Many other elements may be present or added. Foam latex or latex foam rubber is a lightweight form of latex containing bubbles known as cells, created from liquid latex. The foam is generally created though the Dunlop or Talalay process in which a liquid latex is foamed and then cured in a mold to extract the foam. Structural enhancements are applied to a foam by making different choices of polymers used for the foam or through the use of fillers in the foam. Don Ivan Punchatz
Don Ivan Punchatz (September 8, 1936 – October 22, 2009) was a science fiction and fantasy artist who drew illustrations for numerous books and publications, including magazines such as '' Heavy Metal'', ''National Geographic'', ''Playboy'', and ''Time''. He illustrated album covers, and provided the cover art for session guitarist Steve Hunter's debut solo album, '' Swept Away''. Characterized as a "skilled hyperrealist with a penchant for the fantastic and absurd" and "elegantly weird," he produced cover art for books by Harlan Ellison, Isaac Asimov and others. Punchatz was born in Arlington, Texas. In 1970, he started the SketchPad Studio there, where he trained dozens of apprentices (known as "the elves") and came to be known as the "Godfather of Dallas Illustration."
