''Greatest Hits 2'' is a greatest hits album by American rock band Journey. The album was released on November 1, 2011 by Columbia Records. The compilation album is the band's second greatest hits package. It was released 23 years after the first greatest hits package in 1988. The album includes the remaining radio hits that were left off the first greatest hits package and fan favorites. This includes "Stone in Love", "Feeling That Way", "Anytime", "Just the Same Way", "Still They Ride", "Suzanne", "Walks Like a Lady", "The Party's Over" and "After the Fall". Background ''Greatest Hits 2'' was released on CD, digital download and in a gatefold double-vinyl edition. Journey is an American rock band formed in San Francisco in 1973 by former members of Santana, Steve Miller Band, and Frumious Bandersnatch. The band currently consists of guitarist/vocalist Neal Schon (the last original member), keyboardists/vocalists Jonathan Cain and Jason Derlatka, drummer/vocalist Deen Castronovo, bassist Todd Jensen, and lead vocalist Arnel Pineda. ''Departure'' is the sixth studio album by American rock band Journey. It was released on February 29, 1980 by Columbia Records. ''Departure'' was Journey's highest-charting album to that point, giving them their first appearance in the top 10 of the ''Billboard'' 200 album charts, peaking at No. 8. The album includes "Any Way You Want It", the lead off track and top 25 single. The album featured an edgier sound, thanks partly to the "live in studio" way the songs were recorded. The band went into The Automatt studio with 19 tracks, eventually trimming down to 12. Three singles were released off of ''Departure''. "Any Way You Want It" reached #23 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 and the follow up " Walks Like a Lady" reached #32. Captured (Journey Album)
''Captured'' is Journey's first live album. It was released on January 30, 1981 on the Columbia Records label. The album reached No. 9 on the ''Billboard'' 200 albums chart and went on to sell two million copies. This album was recorded during the band's "Departure" tour in 1980. Tracks 1 to 4 were taken from a performance recorded at The Forum in Montreal, Quebec, Canada on August 8, 1980. Tracks 5 & 6 were from the performance at the end of the tour in Koseinenkin Hall, Shinjyuku, Tokyo, Japan on October 13, 1980 and tracks 7 to 16 came from two shows at Cobo Hall in Detroit, Michigan on August 4 & 5th 1980. The song "Dixie Highway" had not previously been (nor was it subsequently) recorded on any Journey studio album. Closing the album is the lone studio track, "The Party's Over (Hopelessly in Love)", which was released as a single. "After the Fall" is a song by the American rock band Journey (band), Journey. Written by Jonathan Cain and Steve Perry, it was the third single released from their 1983 album ''Frontiers (Journey album), Frontiers''. Peaking at #23 on the Billboard Hot 100, ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart, it was the band's 11th top 40 and their ninth top 25 single. It spent 12 weeks on the chart overall. It also reached #30 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks, Mainstream Rock chart. Jonathan Cain
Jonathan Leonard Friga (born February 26, 1950), known professionally as Jonathan Cain, is an American musician and songwriter best known as the keyboardist for Journey. He has also worked with the Babys and Bad English. Cain was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Journey in 2017. He also maintains a solo career as a contemporary Christian artist. Early life Cain was born in Chicago, Illinois, to Leonard and Nancy Friga. At the age of eight, Cain began accordion lessons, and by the time he was in his teens, he was playing accordion and piano at parties and in clubs. He also plays guitar, bass, and harmonica. Cain is a survivor of the Our Lady of the Angels school fire of 1958, in which 92 students and 3 nuns died. Steve Perry
Stephen Ray Perry (born January 22, 1949) is an American singer and songwriter. He was the lead singer of the rock band Journey during their most commercially successful periods from 1977 to 1987, and again from 1995 to 1998. He also wrote/co-wrote several of Journey’s hit songs. Perry had a successful solo career between the mid-1980s and mid-1990s, made sporadic appearances in the 2000s, and returned to music full-time in 2018.
