Captured (Journey Album)
''Captured'' is Journey's first live album. It was released on January 30, 1981 on the Columbia Records label. The album reached No. 9 on the ''Billboard'' 200 albums chart and went on to sell two million copies. This album was recorded during the band's "Departure" tour in 1980. Tracks 1 to 4 were taken from a performance recorded at The Forum in Montreal, Quebec, Canada on August 8, 1980. Tracks 5 & 6 were from the performance at the end of the tour in Koseinenkin Hall, Shinjyuku, Tokyo, Japan on October 13, 1980 and tracks 7 to 16 came from two shows at Cobo Hall in Detroit, Michigan on August 4 & 5th 1980. The song "Dixie Highway" had not previously been (nor was it subsequently) recorded on any Journey studio album. Closing the album is the lone studio track, "The Party's Over (Hopelessly in Love)", which was released as a single. Journey (band)
Journey is an American rock band formed in San Francisco in 1973 by former members of Santana, Steve Miller Band, and Frumious Bandersnatch. The band currently consists of guitarist/vocalist Neal Schon (the last original member), keyboardists/vocalists Jonathan Cain and Jason Derlatka, drummer/vocalist Deen Castronovo, bassist Todd Jensen, and lead vocalist Arnel Pineda. Journey had their biggest commercial success between 1978 and 1987, when Steve Perry was lead vocalist; they released a series of hit songs, including "Don't Stop Believin' (1981), which in 2009 became the top-selling track in iTunes history among songs not released in the 21st century. The ''Billboard'' 200 is a record chart ranking the 200 most popular music albums and EPs in the United States. It is published weekly by '' Billboard'' magazine and is frequently used to convey the popularity of an artist or groups of artists. "Walks Like a Lady" is a song written by Steve Perry that was first released by his band Journey on their 1980 album '' Departure''. It was also released as the second single from the album and reached No. 32 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100. It also reached #31 in Canada. Robert Fleischman
Robert Fleischman (born March 11, 1953) is an American singer and songwriter. He is known for working with the rock band Journey, briefly as their lead vocalist in 1977 and occasionally thereafter as a songwriting collaborator. Biography Fleischman, originally the frontman of Los Angeles band Shatterminx in 1975 is perhaps best known as the lead singer for the rock band Journey from June until October 1977, between the group's albums, ''Next'' and ''Infinity''. He appeared in live concert performances with Journey and co-wrote and recorded numerous studio demo tracks during the band's early writing sessions for the upcoming album, ''Infinity''. ''Infinity'' is the fourth studio album by American rock band Journey, released in January 1978 by Columbia Records. It was the band's first album with vocalist Steve Perry and the last to feature drummer Aynsley Dunbar. "Lights" is a song recorded by American rock band Journey and written by Steve Perry and Neal Schon, released in 1978. Background and writing The song is about Journey's city of origin, San Francisco, although it was actually written in and originally intended to be about Los Angeles. It was one of Steve Perry's first Journey songs, and was recorded soon after joining the band. In an interview, Perry said, "I had the song written in Los Angeles almost completely except for the bridge and it was written about Los Angeles. Ross Valory
Ross Lamont Valory (born February 2, 1949) is an American musician who is best known as the original bass player for the rock band Journey from 1973 to 1985 and again from 1995 to 2020. Valory was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Journey in 2017. Career Ross Valory was born on February 2, 1949 in San Francisco, California. He grew up in Lafayette, California and attended Acalanes High School. In high school, he played clarinet, bass clarinet and guitar. His mother introduced him to jazz, particularly Dave Brubeck. Steve Perry (musician)
Stephen Ray Perry (born January 22, 1949) is an American singer and songwriter. He was the lead singer of the rock band Journey during their most commercially successful periods from 1977 to 1987, and again from 1995 to 1998. He also wrote/co-wrote several of Journey’s hit songs.
