Grady County, Georgia
Grady County is a county located in the U.S. state of Georgia. As of the 2010 census, the population was 25,011. The county seat is Cairo. History Grady County was created by an act of the Georgia General Assembly on August 17, 1905, from portions of Decatur and Thomas Counties. The county is named for Henry W. Grady, editor of the ''Atlanta Constitution'' and noted orator. Geography According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of , of which is land and (1.2%) is water. The bulk of Grady County, centered on Cairo, is located on the Upper Ochlockonee River sub-basin of the larger Ochlockonee River basin. The county's northwestern corner is located in the Lower Flint River sub-basin of the ACF River Basin (Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint River Basin). Red Hills Region
The Red Hills or Tallahassee Hills is a region of gently rolling hills in the southeastern United States. It is a geomorphic region and an ecoregion. Location The Red Hills physiographic region of northern Florida was defined in 1914 as most of Leon County north of the Cody Scarp, and small portions of southernmost Grady and Thomas counties in Georgia. The original tree cover of the region was a shortleaf pine-oak-hickory woodland with deep sandy clay soil. A wider definition of the Red Hills Region includes Jefferson County, Florida north of the Cody Scarp and the southern portions of Grady and Thomas counties in Georgia. This larger region consists of about that is bounded by the Aucilla River on the east and northeast, by the Ochlockonee River on the west and northwest, and by the Cody Scarp on the south. Georgia State Route 111
State Route 111 (SR 111) is a state highway in the southwest part of the U.S. state of Georgia. The highway runs from the Florida state line, southwest of Calvary northeast through Cairo and Meigs, glancing off the northwest corner of Riverside, and ending in Moultrie. Route description SR 111 begins at the Florida state line, where the roadway continues as Dorsey Calvary Road. It intersects with SR 93 in Cairo. There, the two routes form a concurrency to the north. Farther north, there are intersections with SR 38 Spur and US 84/ SR 38. The two routes head north out of Cairo, and then turn northeast. Georgia State Route 93
State Route 93 (SR 93) is a state highway in southwest part of the U.S. state of Georgia. The highway runs from Moncrief north to Pelham, northeast to Hinsonton, north to Lester, and west to Baconton. Route description SR 93 begins at an intersection with US 319/ SR 35 in Moncrief, in the southeastern part of Grady County. It heads north-northwest. After traveling through Beachton, it curves to the north-northeast. It curves to a nearly due-northwestern direction before going to the north.
