Good Cheer
''Good Cheer'' is a 1926 American short silent comedy film directed by Robert F. McGowan. It was the 46th ''Our Gang'' short subject released. Plot As described in a film magazine review, the Gang is assembled in front of a big store window where a Santa Claus is doing his stuff. With the exception of two of the older members of the Gang who are entirely disillusioned as to the reality of the benevolent Old Man, the rest of the youngsters are very much impressed by the performance. The store window curtain is then pulled down but after a few minutes accidentally flies up to disclose a fake Santa Claus. The children disperse, muttering "There ain't no Santa Claus." However, Mickey and his pal decide to attempt to restore the faith of their friends but are hampered by a lack of funds. They then hit on the scheme of selling hot bricks to all who happen to be out in a terrific snow storm and manage to obtain a pocket full of money. Sam Lufkin
Samuel "Sam" William Lufkin (May 8, 1891 – February 19, 1952) was an American actor who usually appeared in small or bit roles in short comedy films. Career Born in Utah, Lufkin spent most of his career at the Hal Roach Studios where he made over 60 films. In over half of these, he appeared alongside Laurel and Hardy, again mostly in small parts, but occasionally in more substantial roles, such as an irascible cop (''The Music Box''), or an irate motorist ('' Two Tars''). After Laurel and Hardy left Roach in 1940, the grim-faced Lufkin mostly appeared in further bit roles in Hollywood feature films before his death of uremia in 1952. Charlie Hall (actor)
Charlie Hall (also credited Charley Hall; 19 August 1899 – 7 December 1959) was an English film actor. He is best known as the "Little Nemesis" of Laurel and Hardy. He performed in nearly 50 films with them, making Hall the most frequent supporting actor in the comedy duo's productions. Life and career Hall was born in Ward End, Birmingham, Warwickshire, and learned carpentry as a trade; however, as a teenager, he became a member of the Fred Karno troupe of stage comedians. In his late teens, he visited his sister in New York City and stayed there, finding employment as a stagehand. While working behind the scenes, he met the comic actor Bobby Dunn and they became friends; Dunn convinced Hall to take a stab again at acting, which he did. By the mid-1920s, Hall was working for Hal Roach. Stan Laurel, one of Roach's comedy stars, was also a graduate of the Karno troupe. John Gavin (director)
John F. ('Jack') Gavin (9 February 1874 – 6 January 1938) was a pioneer Australian film actor and director, one of the early filmmakers of the 1910s. He is best known for making films about bushrangers such as Captain Thunderbolt, Captain Moonlite, Ben Hall and Frank Gardiner. Known informally as 'Jack', Gavin worked in collaboration with his wife Agnes, who scripted many of his films. Film historians Graham Shirley and Brian Adams have written; "although Gavin was prolific his later surviving work shows that his entrepreneurial talent outweighed any he might have had as director."
