Ed Brandenburg
Marion Edgar "Ed" Brandenburg (May 5, 1896 – November 17, 1968) was an American actor and stuntman. He appeared in 37 films between 1922 and 1938 and was the brother of actor Chet Brandenburg. He was born in Lexington, Kentucky and died in San Gabriel, California. A stunt performer, often called a stuntman or stuntwoman and occasionally stuntperson or stunt-person, is a trained professional who performs daring acts, often as a career. The Battle Of The Century
''The Battle of the Century'' is a 1927 silent short film starring comedy double act Laurel and Hardy, who appeared in 107 films between 1921 and 1951. The film is famous for its use of more than 3,000 cream pies (although the Guinness Book of Records claims that as many as 10,000 may have been used) in the film's climactic pie fight. For many years, only three minutes from the film's second reel containing the pie fight was known to survive, as the footage had been included in Robert Youngson's 1950s film documentaries. However, the complete reel was rediscovered in 2015. It was released to the public on DVD and Blu-ray disc on June 16, 2020 as part of the ''Laurel & Hardy: The Definitive Restorations'' compilation of remastered films. ''One Terrible Day'' is a 1922 American silent short film, the first entry in Hal Roach's ''Our Gang'' (''Little Rascals'') series to be released. Directed by Robert F. McGowan and Tom McNamara, the two-reel short was released to theaters on September 10, 1922 by Pathé. This was the first ''Our Gang'' comedy to be released, although the fourth to be produced. The gang's leading lady in this film is Peggy Cartwright, who makes only a brief appearance in the company of an unnamed character at the country estate. Plot The film begins with Ernie using his ingenuity to overcome his poverty and find a way to feed his little sister Farina and his steed, Dinah the mule. He encounters Jackie, who is selling newspapers, and learns about a kidnapper who is at large. Ernie then stumbles into a secret meeting of several young boys, including Mickey Daniels and Jack Davis, who call themselves the JJJs (Jesse James Juniors). They tell him that he is unwelcome in their meeting unless he can tell them what good deed he has ever done. He responds by spinning a long, and very unbelievable, tall tale of how he, Jackie, and Dinah rescued Peggy from the kidnappers. ''Good Cheer'' is a 1926 American short silent comedy film directed by Robert F. McGowan. It was the 46th ''Our Gang'' short subject released. Plot As described in a film magazine review, the Gang is assembled in front of a big store window where a Santa Claus is doing his stuff. With the exception of two of the older members of the Gang who are entirely disillusioned as to the reality of the benevolent Old Man, the rest of the youngsters are very much impressed by the performance. The store window curtain is then pulled down but after a few minutes accidentally flies up to disclose a fake Santa Claus. The children disperse, muttering "There ain't no Santa Claus." However, Mickey and his pal decide to attempt to restore the faith of their friends but are hampered by a lack of funds.
