Godthab Gulf ( da, Godthåb Golf), also known as Godthaab Golf, Clavering Fjord, Clavering Sound and Inner Bay, is a fjord in King Christian X Land, East Greenland. Administratively it is part of the Northeast Greenland National Park zone. Hold With Hope
Hold with Hope is a peninsula in eastern Greenland. Administratively it is part of the Northeast Greenland National Park zone. Geologically Hold with Hope is a place of great interest. Geography Hold with Hope is located between Loch Fyne in the west, Godthab Gulf in the NW, Gael Hamke Bay in the north, the Greenland Sea at its eastern end, and Mackenzie Bay and Foster Bay on its southern side. Norlund Alps
The Norlund Alps ( da, Nørlund Alper) are a mountain range in King Christian X Land, East Greenland. Administratively these mountains are part of the Northeast Greenland National Park.Google Earth History The range was named during the 1929–1930 Expedition to East Greenland by Lauge Koch after Danish mathematician Niels Erik Nørlund (1885–1980) and after the Alps, for the mountains form an impressive Alpine landscape. Wordie Bay ( da, Wordie Bugt) is a bay in eastern Greenland. Administratively it is part of the Northeast Greenland National Park zone. Wordie Glacier
Wordie Glacier ( da, Wordie Gletscher) is a glacier in northeastern Greenland. It has its terminus on the east coast of the Greenland ice sheet. This glacier was named after Scottish polar explorer James Wordie (1890–1962) by the 1926–27 expedition led by Lauge Koch. Geography The Wordie Glacier is quite large and several nunataks rise above it. It flows for about 80 km from the NW east of Stenoland and west of Payer Land. The glacier has several branches, including the Vibeke Glacier and the smaller Iris Glacier to the west, and the Granta Glacier that drains into the Granta Fjord to the east. Faraway How and C. H. Loch Fyne (Greenland)
Loch Fyne is a fjord in the Northeast Greenland National Park, NE Greenland National Park area, East Greenland. History The fjord was explored and mapped in 1823 by British Arctic explorer Douglas Clavering during the Commissioners for the Discovery of the Longitude at Sea expedition. It was named after Loch Fyne, "Lock Fine" in Scotland. In the intervening years the spelling was corrected to "Loch Fyne" in maps of Scotland and in the maps of Greenland Danish cartographers adopted the modern corrected spelling as well. There are a number of Norwegian and Danish cabins by the shores of this fjord. Both hunting areas and fishing grounds are good in the area of Loch Fyne. Finsch Islands
Friedrich Hermann Otto Finsch (8 August 1839, Warmbrunn – 31 January 1917, Braunschweig) was a German ethnographer, naturalist and colonial explorer. He is known for a two-volume monograph on the parrots of the world which earned him a doctorate. He also wrote on the people of New Guinea and was involved in plans for German colonization in Southeast Asia. Several species of bird (such as ''Oenanthe finschii'', ''Alophoixus finschii'', ''Psittacula finschii'') are named after him as also the town of Finschhafen in Morobe Province, Papua New Guinea and a crater on the moon. Biography Finsch was born at Bad Warmbrunn in Silesia to Mortiz Finsch and Mathilde née Leder. His father was in the glass trade and he too trained as a glass painter.
