God's Own Country (2017 Film)
''God's Own Country'' is a 2017 British romantic drama film written and directed by Francis Lee in his feature directorial debut. The film stars Josh O'Connor and Alec Secăreanu. The plot follows a young sheep farmer in Yorkshire whose life is transformed by a Romanian migrant worker. Upon release, the film received widespread acclaim from critics, who praised the performances (particularly O'Connor's) and story, as well as commending it as a promising start for Lee. It was the only UK-based production to feature in the world drama category at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival, where it won the world cinema directing award. Francis Lee (director)
Francis Lee (born 1969, TIFF interview from the end of 2017 where he states that he has turned 48.) is an English filmmaker who has written and directed the films ''God's Own Country'' (2017) and '' Ammonite'' (2020). Life and career Francis Lee grew up on his family's farm in Soyland, Calderdale, West Yorkshire. After finishing school, he studied acting at the Rose Bruford College and worked in the theatre afterwards. Lee first appeared on television in 1994 in ''Peak Practice'', which was followed by guest roles in television series like '' Midsomer Murders'', '' Heartbeat'' and ''Casualty''. In cinema, he had small roles in Mike Leigh's ''Topsy-Turvy'' (1999) and in Sandra Goldbacher's '' Me Without You'' (2001). Although working as a director today, he never trained at a film school. Breech Birth
A breech birth is when a baby is born bottom first instead of head first, as is normal. Around 3–5% of pregnant women at term (37–40 weeks pregnant) have a breech baby. Due to their higher than average rate of possible complications for the baby, breech births are generally considered higher risk. Breech births also occur in many other mammals such as dogs and horses, see veterinary obstetrics. Most babies in the breech position are delivered via caesarean section because it is seen as safer than being born vaginally. Doctors and midwives in the developing world often lack many of the skills required to safely assist women giving birth to a breech baby vaginally. Silsden is a town and civil parish in the City of Bradford in West Yorkshire, England, on the River Aire and Leeds and Liverpool Canal between Keighley and Skipton, which had a population of 8,268 at the 2011 Census.
