Glyn Baronets
There have been three baronetcies created for members of the Glyn family, two in the Baronetage of Great Britain and one in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom. The Glyn Baronetcy, of Ewell in the County of Surrey, was created in the Baronetage of Great Britain on 29 September 1759 for Richard Glyn. He was a banker and also represented the City of London and Coventry in Parliament. In 1942 the title was inherited by Sir Richard Fitzgerald Glyn, 4th Baronet, of Gaunt's House (see below), who became the eighth Baronet of Ewell as well. The ninth baronet was a Conservative politician. The Glyn Baronetcy, of Gaunt's House in the County of Dorset, was created in the Baronetage of Great Britain on 22 November 1800 for Richard Carr Glyn. He was the fourth son of the first baronet of the 1759 creation. Carr-Glyn was also a banker and sat as a member of parliament for St Ives. Glyn Ceiriog
Glyn Ceiriog is the principal settlement of the Ceiriog Valley and a community in Wrexham County Borough, north-east Wales. Glyn Ceiriog translates simply as Ceiriog Valley, though there are other villages in the valley. The village and community is technically known, in traditional Welsh naming style, as Llansantffraid Glyn Ceiriog or sometimes Llansanffraid Glyn Ceiriog, which means church of St Ffraid (the Welsh name of Saint Brigid of Kildare) in the Ceiriog Valley, but it has come to be known simply as Glyn Ceiriog, or even Glyn for short. The name Llansanffraid is now more associated with other villages of the same name. It is in the Clwyd South Senedd constituency and Clwyd South UK parliamentary constituency. Glyn Technology School
Glyn School is a boys' comprehensive secondary school – with a co-educational sixth form – in the borough of Epsom and Ewell in the English county of Surrey. History The school was originally called Epsom County Grammar School for Boys, which then was changed to Glyn County Grammar School for Boys (informally “Glyn Grammar”) at the instigation of the new headteacher Norman Dawson in 1951. After its transformation into a comprehensive school it was named Glyn ADT and then Glyn Technology School. Latterly, from 1 April 2011, after its conversion to academy status, the school has been known as Glyn School. Mynydd Y Glyn
Mynydd y Glyn is a mountain in South Wales, between the towns of Pontypridd and Tonyrefail. It has a height above sea level of 377 metres. It is the mountain which was used in '' The Englishman who went up a Hill and came down a Mountain'' in which Hugh Grant and Ian McNeice star as English cartographers. In the film the mountain is known as 'Ffynnon Garw'. In the story, set in the First World War years, written by Ifor Christopher and Ivor Monger, Welsh villagers are determined to stop their local mountain being downgraded to a mere "hill". They do this by carrying loads of earth to the top and at the last moment, when the cartographers are due to leave, it reaches the height of 1,002 feet thus qualifying as a mountain. Later, in more modern times, the mountain 'settles' to about 997 feet and the descendants of the original villagers undertake the task again. Colwyn Bay ( cy, Bae Colwyn) is a town, community and seaside resort in Conwy County Borough on the north coast of Wales overlooking the Irish Sea. It lies within the historic county of Denbighshire.
