Glynn, County Antrim
Glynn () is a small village and civil parish in the Mid and East Antrim Borough Council area of County Antrim, Northern Ireland. It lies a short distance south of Larne, on the shore of Larne Lough. As of the 2011 census, the Glynn ward had a population of 2,027 people. History St. Patrick is said to have built the Church of Gluaire around 435 A.D. Within the town limits, the remnants of a historic stone church can still be found. The county of Antrim was once divided into the districts of North Clandeboye and Glynns (Glynnes). The region was a vicarage in the Diocese of Connor and the ecclesiastical province of Armagh, and it was a gift from Marquess of Donegall. The village is then mentioned in a grant from King James I to Arthur Lord Chichester, Baron of Belfast, of his estates in Antrim, Down and Carrickfergus. This grant was dated 20 November 1620. Glynn, Louisiana
Glynn is an unincorporated community in southeastern Pointe Coupee Parish, Louisiana, United States. The community is located along Louisiana Highway 416, west of the Mississippi River. History In 1847, an Irishman named Martin Glynn immigrated to New Orleans, Louisiana and set himself up as a wholesale merchant, grocer, and cotton factor. As his fortune grew, Glynn purchased property in West Baton Rouge and Pointe Coupee parishes. After the Civil War, Glynn moved his growing family to the he had acquired. Around the turn of the century, the Texas and Pacific Railroad began laying track through his property, and on December 23, 1899, a post office was established. Martin's son, Charles Wilson Glynn, became its first postmaster. Glynn County is located in the southeastern part of the U.S. state of Georgia. As of the 2010 census, the population was 79,626. The county seat is Brunswick. Glynn County is part of the Brunswick, Georgia Metropolitan Statistical Area. History Glynn County, one of the state's original eight counties created on February 5, 1777, was named after John Glynn, a member of the British House of Commons who defended the cause of the American Colonies before the American Revolution. The Battle of Bloody Marsh was fought in Glynn County. James Oglethorpe built Fort Frederica, which was used a base in the American Revolutionary War. Glynn House
Glynn House is a Grade II* listed country estate near Cardinham in the county of Cornwall. It was once the seat of the Glynn family and later the seat of Sir Hussey Vivian. History There has been a property in this location next to the River Fowey since before the Norman Conquest. It was later owned by Ralph de Monthermer, 1st Baron Monthermer who married Edward I's daughter Joan of Acre, and subsequently by Henry V. The Glynn family first occupied the estate in the mid-15th century. The present house was built in the mid to late 18th century on the site of an earlier one. In 1805, it was rebuilt and refronted by Edmund John Glynn, High Sheriff of Cornwall, which included two Palladian wings. It was damaged in a fire in 1819 and restored. In 1833, it was refurbished for Richard Hussey Vivian, which included the addition of a portico with four Doric order columns. Further alterations took place in the 20th century. Glynn William Davis (born December 7, 1991) is an American professional baseball outfielder who is a free agent. Career Davis attended Northeast Senior High School in Pasadena, Maryland. He played for the school's baseball team as a shortstop. Davis planned on enrolling at Anne Arundel Community College, but a high school teammate convinced him to enroll at Catonsville Community College instead. Playing as a shortstop for the school's baseball team, Davis batted .430 with 10 home runs and 35 stolen bases, and was named a Junior College All-American. He went undrafted in the 2010 Major League Baseball draft, and committed to transfer to the University of Central Florida (UCF) to continue his college baseball career with the UCF Knights baseball team. Glynn Motorsports is a former NASCAR Busch Series and Craftsman Truck Series team. The team was owned by businessman Scott Glynn before it filed for bankruptcy in January 2006. Glynn made its debut in 2005 when it announced it would merge with Akins Motorsports to field the No. 58 Serta/Hickory Farms Dodge Charger driven by rookie Brent Sherman. Sherman had a ninth-place finish at Talladega Superspeedway, but was released midseason in favor of Regan Smith. The team soon picked up sponsorship from Samson Stone and Who's Your Daddy?, and Smith had eight top-twenty finishes and three top-five starts. He finished 33rd in points. The team also fielded a second car late in the year, the No. 92 driven by Tracy Hines and Clay Rogers. The team's truck operation debuted at Mansfield Motorsports Park in the Truck series in 2005.
