Giulia Steingruber
Giulia Steingruber (born 24 March 1994) is a retired Swiss artistic gymnast. She is the 2016 Olympic and 2017 World bronze medalist on vault. Additionally she is the 2015 European all-around champion, a four-time European vault champion (2013, 2014, 2016, and 2021) and the 2016 European floor exercise champion. Steingruber also competed for Switzerland at the 2012, 2016 and 2020 Olympic Games. She is the first Swiss female gymnast to win the European all-around title and the first Swiss female gymnast ever to win an Olympic gymnastics medal of any color. Senior career 2011 At the 2011 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, Steingruber finished 16th in the all-around and 5th on vault. 2012 Steingruber won the bronze medal on vault in the 2012 European Women's Artistic Gymnastics Championships. Qualification results Reserves * * * Final results McKayla Maroney of the United States, the defending world champion and top qualifier to the vault final, was the favourite to win but placed second after falling on her second vault. Oksana Chusovitina, who placed fifth, set a record by competing in her sixth consecutive Olympic vault final. * *Black landed on her face during her first vault, and it was deemed by the judges that her feet did not land first (though replays suggested this may not have been the case). The women's artistic individual all-around competition at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London was held at the North Greenwich Arena on 2 August. Format of competition The top 24 competitors in the qualification round (with a limit of two per country), based on combined scores on the four apparatuses, advanced to the individual all-around final. In the final, gymnasts performed on each apparatus again. Qualification scores were then ignored, with only final-round scores counting. Qualifications for Men's artistic gymnastic competitions at the 2012 Summer Olympics were held at the North Greenwich Arena on July 28. The results of the qualification determined the qualifiers to the finals: 8 teams in the team final, 24 gymnasts in the all-around final, and 8 gymnasts in each of 6 apparatus finals. The competition was divided to 3 subdivisions. The first subdivision took place at 11:00 British Summer Time (UTC+1); the second and third subdivision at 15:30 BST and 20:00 BST respectively. European Artistic Gymnastics Championships – Women's Vault
The vault event at the European Women's Artistic Gymnastics Championships was first held in 1957. Three medals are awarded: gold for first place, silver for second place, and bronze for third place. Tie breakers have not been used in every year. In the event of a tie between two gymnasts, both names are listed, and the following position (second for a tie for first, third for a tie for second) is left empty because a medal was not awarded for that position. The 2011 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships were held in Tokyo, Japan, from October 7–16, 2011, at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium. Gymnastics at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo was held in three categories: artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics and trampolining. After months of waiting due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Summer Olympics were finally held in 2021 at the Olympic Gymnastic Centre in Tokyo. Three gymnastics disciplines were contested at the 2012 Olympic Games in London: artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics and trampolining. The trampoline events were held at the North Greenwich Arena (normally called The O2 Arena) from 3 to 4 August; the artistic events were also held at the North Greenwich Arena, from 28 July to 7 August.
