Giorgio De Vincenzi
Giorgio De Vincenzi (1884–1965), was an Italian painter and etcher. He was a versatile artist, using diverse techniques and specialised in landscapes and portraiture. Short biography and analysis Born in Ferrara in December 1884, De Vincenzi did not follow a normal course of academic studies, but for a period attended the studio of the Italian painter Nicola Laurenti, where he also befriended Jewish artist Roberto Melli and painter-poet Filippo De Pisis. His artistic production is well known nationally and is mostly dedicated to landscapes and female portraits. However, in his first artistic phase, De Vincenzi liked to paint his hometown's gardens and medieval walls, ideally anticipating the setting of Giorgio Bassani's books about Ferrara and its people suffering from racist persecution — later to become famous in movies such as ''The Garden of the Finzi-Continis'' by Vittorio de Sica.Cf''Atmosfere ferraresi, cit.'' University Of Pisa

History The Origins The University of Pisa was officially founded in 1343, although various scholars place its origins in the 11th century. It was during this period that Leonardo Fibonacci was born and worked. He was one of the greatest mathematicians in history who, through his work, synthesized the spirit and processes of Greek geometry and the tools of Arabic mathematics for the first time in Europe. The papal seal “In Supremae dignitatis”, issued by Pope Clement VI on 3 September 1343, granted the Studium in Pisa the title of Studium Generale with various exclusive privileges, making it universally recognised. In medieval times, the Studium Generale wa ...

Maurice Utrillo
Maurice Utrillo (), born Maurice Valadon; 26 December 1883 – 5 November 1955), was a French painter of the School of Paris who specialized in cityscapes. Born in the Montmartre quarter of Paris, France, Utrillo is one of the few famous painters of Montmartre who were born there. Biography Utrillo was the son of the artist Suzanne Valadon (born Marie-Clémentine Valadon), who was then an eighteen-year-old artist's model. She never revealed who was the father of her child; speculation exists that he was the offspring from a liaison with an equally young amateur painter named Boissy, or with the well-established painter Pierre-Cécile Puvis de Chavannes, or even with Renoir. (see below under ''Paternity''). In 1891 a Spanish artist, Miquel Utrillo, signed a legal document acknowledging paternity, although the question remains as to whether he was in fact the child's father. Valadon, who became a model after a fall from a trapeze ended her chosen career as a circus acrobat, fou ...
