Gillet is a Belgian automobile manufacturer, started in 1992 by former racing driver Tony Gillet. The company produces the Vertigo sports coupé, an ultra-lightweight (990 kg) 'bespoke' and hand-built sportscar. The slogan of the company is "Supercar and work of art Pure Pleasure!". Tony Gillet
Tony Gillet (born 4 September 1945 in Marche, Belgium) is a Belgian former racing driver and founder of the Gillet sports car company. Racing career Gillet started racing in 1968 in provincial rallies, at the wheel of a Renault 4. In 1979 and 1980 he won the Belgian hill-climb championship driving a Formula 2 Renault previously driven by Jean-Pierre Jabouille. Alfa Romeo V6 Engine
The Alfa Romeo V6 engine (also called the Busso V6) is a 60° V6 engine made by Alfa Romeo from 1979 to 2005. It was developed in the early 1970s by Giuseppe Busso, and used on the Alfa 6 with a displacement of and a SOHC 12-valve cylinder head. Later versions ranged from and had DOHC 24-valve valvetrains. The original design had short pushrods for the exhaust valves in a design similar to earlier Lancia Fulvia engines. The first DOHC version was in the 1993 Alfa Romeo 164, with an aluminium alloy engine block and head with sodium filled exhaust valves. Zagato Maserati Mostro
The Zagato Maserati Mostro is a limited edition car, produced by Zagato and revealed at the 2015 Villa d'Este Concours d'Elegance. History It was created to celebrate the 100-years anniversary of Maserati. It uses the V8 engine and transmission of the Maserati GranTurismo. Only 5 cars were produced by Zagato. The car is a tribute to the Maserati 450S Coupé of 1957 bodied by Zagato. Just as the original Mostro was built for racing and subsequently converted into a road car, so the modern-day Mostro has been created primarily for track use using racing technology, while also being useable on the road. The car presented at the concours did not have a wing but the red car offered in February 2020 at a Bonhams auction in Paris did have one. Group N
In relation to international motorsport governed by the FIA, Group N refers to regulations providing 'standard' large scale series production vehicles for competition. They are limited in terms of modifications permitted to the standard specification by the manufacturer making them a cost effective method of production vehicle motorsport. Often referred to as the "showroom class", Group N contrasts with Group A which has greater freedom to modify and tune the cars to be more suitable to racing. Both Groups may have the same or similar models homologated by a manufacturer. Group N was introduced by the FIA in 1982 to replace the outgoing Group 1 as "''standard touring cars''". At this time there weren't specific formula for production racing cars in competition. A V8 engine is an eight-cylinder piston engine in which two banks of four cylinders share a common crankshaft and are arranged in a V configuration. FIA GT Championship
The FIA GT Championship was a sports car racing series organized by the Stéphane Ratel Organisation (SRO) at the behest of the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA). The championship was mostly concentrated in Europe, but throughout the years has visited other continents including Asia and South America. At the end of 2009, the championship was replaced by the FIA GT1 World Championship, which morphed into the FIA GT Series for 2013. Regulations FIA currently defines several categories of GT cars with the top two specifications being GT1, or Grand Touring Cars, and GT2, or Series Grand Touring Cars. Each category has an annual driver champion, team champion, and manufacturer champion.
