Gidrán (vehicle)
The Gidrán is a family of Hungarian armoured tactical vehicles, based on the Turkish Ejder Yalçın vehicles by Nurol Makina. History Development The development of the Gidrán platform by a new Hungarian joint venture was announced on December 21, 2020 in Budapest. According to the press release, the new company was founded by the Hungarian firm HT Division Zrt., a licensee of Nurol Makina, and Rheinmetall Hungary Zrt., itself a joint venture between Germany's Rheinmetall Defence and the Government of Hungary. The primary user of the Gidrán will be the Hungarian Defence Forces. The first 50 vehicles are being built in Turkey as standard Ejder Yalçın 4×4, with the initial batch of 10 vehicles having been delivered and entered Hungarian service in December 2020. Armoured Combat Vehicle
An armoured fighting vehicle (AFV) is an armed combat vehicle protected by armour, generally combining operational mobility with offensive and defensive capabilities. AFVs can be wheeled or tracked. Examples of AFVs are tanks, armoured cars, assault guns, self-propelled guns, infantry fighting vehicles, and armoured personnel carriers. Armoured fighting vehicles are classified according to their characteristics and intended role on the battlefield. The classifications are not absolute; two countries may classify the same vehicle differently, and the criteria change over time. Tata (german: Totis; la, Dotis) is a town in Komárom-Esztergom County, northwestern Hungary, northwest of the county town Tatabánya. The 25th Infantry Brigade "György Klapka" ( hu, MH 25. Klapka György Lövészdandár), is a brigade-sized formation of the Hungarian Defence Forces. History The brigade has been restructured several times since its inception more than six decades ago. The predecessor of the brigade was the 17th Heavy tank and Assault Gun Regiment. The formation of this regiment began in October 1950, and then the actual training of the troops began in November in Székesfehérvár. It was deployed to Baj in 1953, when it was renamed the 31st Heavy Tank and Assault Gun Regiment. In 1957, the regiment was moved to its current location, Tata. In 1961, the T-34 tanks were replaced by T-34 M type, then in 1962, for the first time in the Hungarian People's Army, the unit was equipped with T-55 type tanks. Hungarian Ground Forces
The Hungarian Ground Forces ( hu, Magyar Szárazföldi Haderő) is the land branch of the Hungarian Defence Forces, and is responsible for ground activities and troops including artillery, tanks, APCs, IFVs and ground support. An infantry fighting vehicle (IFV), also known as a mechanized infantry combat vehicle (MICV), is a type of armoured fighting vehicle used to carry infantry into battle and provide direct-fire support. The Lynx is a German armoured fighting vehicle developed by Rheinmetall Landsysteme (part of Rheinmetall's Vehicle Systems division). The Lynx, configured as a KF31 infantry fighting vehicle (IFV), was unveiled publicly at the Eurosatory defence exhibition on 14 June 2016. Zalaegerszeg
Zalaegerszeg (; hr, Jegersek; sl, Jageršek; german: Egersee) is the administrative center of Zala county in western Hungary. Location Zalaegerszeg lies on the banks of the Zala River, close to the Slovenian and Austrian borders and west-southwest of Budapest by road.
