Ghita Hempel
Ghita Johanne Hempel (5 January 1899 24 March 1948) was a Danish painter. Biography She was born on 5 January 1899 in Vinderød, the daughter of painters Laurits Andersen Ring and Sigrid Ring, née Kähler. The family lived in the L. A. Ring House in Roskilde from 1914. After preparatory training in art under Viggo Brandt, she attended the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts from September 1917 to 1919. She was represented on the Charlottenborg Spring Exhibition in 1921-22, 1926 and 1928 as well. She was also represented on Kunstnernes Efterårsudstilling in 1929 and on an exhibition with Danish artist families (Danske kunstnerslægter) at Charlottenborg in 1952. The art dealer Christian Larsen arranged a special exhibition with her works alongside works in silver and gold by her brother Anders Eing in Copenhagen in 1925. Roskilde Museum
Roskilde Museum is a local history museum based in Roskilde, Denmark. The museum, which is run by the municipalities of Roskilde, Frederikssund and Lejre, has eight separate branches. The main branch in Roskilde, on the corner of Sankt Olsgade and Sankt Olsstræde, is based in two listed buildings, the Sugar House and the Liebe House, a former sugar refinery and a former merchant's house respectively. History The Sugar House The sugar house was built by a consortium led by Johan Jørgen Holst as a facility for the processing of raw sugar from the Danish West Indies. The other investors, a combination of businessmen from Copenhagen and local merchants, were members of his family. The sugar company also had its own ship, Roskilde Ark. After pressure from the sugar company the city agreed to construct a new pier which enabled the ship to continue all the way to Roskilde. Skagens Museum is an art museum in Skagen, Denmark, that exhibits an extensive collection of works by members of the colony of Skagen Painters who lived and worked in the area in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Important artists include Marie and P. S. Krøyer, Anna and Michael Ancher, Laurits Tuxen, Viggo Johansen, and Holger Drachmann. The museum also hosts special exhibitions.
