Villa Gesell Partido is a partido on the Atlantic coast of Buenos Aires Province in Argentina. The provincial subdivision has a population of about 24,282 inhabitants in an area of , and its capital city is Villa Gesell, which is around from Buenos Aires. Asociación Deportiva Atlético Villa Gesell, mostly known as Atlético Villa Gesell, is an Argentine sports club from Villa Gesell, Buenos Aires Province. The stadium was named in honour to Carlos Idaho Gesell, the founder of the city. The team has taken part of Liga Madariaguense tournaments since 1976. Mostly known for its football team, Atlético Villa Gesell also hosts the practise of athletics, field hockey, volleyball and figure skating. The club was founded on December 7, 1974, with Eduardo Castillo as its first president. In 1989, Atlético won the Liga Madariaguense tournament, which allowed it to play at 1990 Torneo Regional. In 2011, Atlético qualified to play at Torneo Argentino C after beating El León 2–1 in the city of General Madariaga. The Gesell Institute of Child Development is a 501c(3)non-profit organization located in New Haven, Connecticut, United States. It promotes to and educates child care professionals on the principles of child development originally laid down by the institutional namesake, Arnold Gesell. History Inception The Gesell Institute was founded in 1950 by Drs. Louise Bates Ames and Frances Ilg alongside Janet Learned after Gesell's retirement from the Yale Child Study Center the previous year. Shortly afterward a Gesell Nursery School was founded adjacent to the institute and provided practical experience to those studying child development. Carl Eduard Gesell (11 May 1845 – 8 April 1894) was a German organ builder. Life Born in Potsdam, Kingdom of Prussia, Gesell was trained in the Potsdam organ workshop of his father Carl Ludwig Gesell and with Franz Wilhelm Sonreck in Cologne. He then worked for Friedrich Meyer in Herford. After his father's death in 1867, he took over his father's Potsdam firm. He continued the tradition of the firm and built mainly single-manual organs for churches in the Mittelmark region. In addition, he won orders from abroad and exported organs to Buenos Aires and Constantinople, now Istanbul. In addition, he carried out a large number of organ conversions and repairs. Gerhard Alden Gesell (June 16, 1910 – February 19, 1993) was a United States district judge of the United States District Court for the District of Columbia. Education and career Born in Los Angeles, California, Gesell received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Yale University in 1932 and a Bachelor of Laws from Yale Law School in 1935. He was a trial attorney for the Securities and Exchange Commission from 1935 to 1940 and a technical advisor to the Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman from 1940 to 1941. Kurt Gesell (born July 8, 1941) is a former provincial level politician from Alberta, Canada. He served as a member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta from 1989 to 1993. Political career Gesell ran as a candidate for the Progressive Conservatives in the 1989 Alberta general election. He won the electoral district of Clover Bar holding it for the Progressive Conservatives in a hotly contested three-way race that saw all three candidates finish within 200 votes of each other. Johann Silvio Gesell (; 17 March 1862 – 11 March 1930) was a German-Argentine economist, merchant, and the founder of Freiwirtschaft, an economic model for market socialism. In 1900 he founded the magazine ''Geld-und Bodenreform'' (''Monetary and Land Reform''), but it soon closed for financial reasons. During one of his stays in Argentina, where he lived in a vegetarian commune, Gesell started the magazine ''Der Physiokrat'' together with Georg Blumenthal. In 1914, it closed due to censorship. The Bavarian Soviet Republic, in which he participated, had a violent end and Gesell was detained for several months on a charge of treason, but was acquitted by a Munich court after a speech he gave in his own defense.
