Rosemary Georgeson
Rosemary Georgeson is a Coast Salish and Sahtu Dene filmmaker and multi-media artist. Georgeson was born on Galiano Island in British Columbia, Canada. Her work ranges from film, theatre, radio to involvement in the culinary arts. Georgeson was the Aboriginal Community Director of Urban Ink Productions 2002-2011, and has worked with the company since its inception in 2001. In 2014 Georgeson was invited to the position of Aboriginal Storyteller in Residence at the Vancouver Public Library. Much of Georgeson's work highlights the unrecorded contributions that Indigenous women have made within the dying fishing industry. Raised in a fishing family on Galiano Island in the Southern gulf islands of British Columbia, Georgeson spent many years working and living on fish boats. Roderick Bruce Georgeson (born 31 July 1948) is an Egyptian former footballer, described by football historian Jeff Kent as "flamboyant". He scored 107 goals in 429 league games in a 17-year career in the Football League and Scottish Football League. He played for Bo'ness United, Port Vale, Dundee, Raith Rovers, Berwick Rangers, Dunfermline Athletic, Montrose, Meadowbank Thistle, Arniston Rangers (as player-manager), and Penicuik Athletic. He was promoted out of the Second Division with Meadowbank Thistle in 1982–83. Career Georgeson had a trial with Port Vale in October 1965, and after a spell with Bo'ness United, he returned to Vale permanently in January 1966. Noah Georgeson is an American musician, producer, engineer, mixer and solo recording artist. Georgeson's debut album '' Find Shelter'' was released through Plain Recordings on November 28, 2006. Early life and education Born in San Anselmo, California, he moved with his family to Nevada City, California at the age of three. Georgeson studied classical guitar and music composition, receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree in composition from San Francisco State University in 2001, and, with a recommendation from Terry Riley, he attended Mills College, receiving his Master of Fine Arts in 2003. While at Mills, Georgeson studied with Fred Frith, Pauline Oliveros, and Alvin Curran. Charles Christian Georgeson
Charles Christian Georgeson (; June 26, 1851 – 1931) was a Danish-American agronomist. Biography Georgeson was born in Langeland, Denmark and immigrated to the United States in 1873 to attend college, graduating from Michigan State College in 1878. He received his master's degree in 1882 and a doctorate in 1916, both from Michigan State. From the beginning of 1886 to near the close of 1889, he was Professor of Agriculture at Tokyo Imperial University in Tokyo, Japan, in the College of Agriculture and Dendrology. On his return to the United States, he was appointed Professor of Agriculture and superintendent of the farm at Kansas State University. In 1898, Georgeson was appointed Special Agent in Charge of the US agricultural experiment stations and sent to Alaska. He remained in Alaska, developing the region's agriculture, until retiring in 1927. Georgeson died in 1931 in Seattle, Washington. Georgeson Botanical Garden
The Georgeson Botanical Garden is located at 117 West Tanana Drive on the University of Alaska Fairbanks campus in Fairbanks, Alaska, United States. The five acre garden hosts a variety of research and educational programs in subarctic horticulture. It is open to the public during daylight hours, May through September, for a fee. It is part of the Alaska Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station. The garden was named after Charles Christian Georgeson, who was USDA Special Agent in Charge of Alaska Investigations in 1899. Dr. Georgeson arrived in Alaska during the Gold Rush to research the possibilities for agriculture in Alaska. He surveyed the land near Fairbanks and started the Fairbanks Experiment Farm.
