George Charles Hurdman
George Charles Hurdman (September 23, 1870 – December 22, 1936) was a Canadian lumber merchant and political figure. He represented Ottawa West in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1914 to 1919 as a Liberal member. He was born in Ottawa, Ontario, the son of George Hurdman and Agnes Hurdman. He worked for several lumber firms before establishing his own company in 1899. In that same year, he married Katherine Lynton. Hurdman defeated the incumbent James A. Ellis to win a seat in the provincial assembly in 1914. Rosseau, Ontario
Rosseau is a community in the District of Parry Sound in Ontario, Canada, located in the township of Seguin. It is situated on the north shore of Lake Rosseau, a popular vacationing area. It is one of the ends of the Rosseau-Nipissing Road, which stretches all the way up to Lake Nipissing, near North Bay, Ontario. An Ontario Historical Plaque was erected by the province to commemorate the Rosseau-Nipissing Road's role in Ontario's heritage. Rosseau was formerly an incorporated village, which was amalgamated into the newly created Seguin Township on January 1, 1998. The town shops are mostly arts and crafts shops with a few exceptions. One of them is the famous Rosseau General Store, which has stood since the late 19th century. The town has a marina and public beach area that has undergone renovations including new boat launches and large docks, a pavilion and public washrooms. Ottawa West was a federal and provincial electoral district in Ontario, Canada, that was represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1935 to 1997 and in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1908 to 1926 and from 1955 to 1999. 4th Princess Louise Dragoon Guards
The 4th Princess Louise Dragoon Guards is an inactive armoured regiment of the Canadian Militia / Canadian Army. It is currently on the Supplementary Order of Battle. Lineage Several independent troops of cavalry in the Province of Canada's volunteer militia were formed in the Kingston area starting in 1855. Four of these troops (in Kingston, Napanee, Loughborough and Picton) were united under a regimental headquarters in 1875, becoming the 4th Provisional Regiment of Cavalry. This regiment adopted hussar uniforms (with buff facings) and hussar customs in 1893, being Redesignated as the 4th Hussars. In 1932, they were again Redesignated as the 4th Hussars of Canada.
