Geoff Hunt
Geoffrey Brian Hunt, (born 11 March 1947), is a retired Australian Squash (sport), squash player who is widely considered to be one of the greatest squash players in history. He was ranked the World No.1 squash player from 1975 to 1980. He won the World Open (squash), World Open title four times. He was the event's inaugural champion, winning the competition on the first four occasions it was held (1976, 1977, 1979 and 1980). He also won the International Amateur Individual Championship three times (1967, 1969, and 1971), and the British Open Squash Championships, British Open (which was considered to be the effective world championship event involving both amateurs and professionals before the World Open began) eight times between 1969 and 1981. 1974 Men's British Open Squash Championship
The 1974 Benson & Hedges British Open Championships was held at Abbeydale Park in Sheffield from 31 January - 8 February 1974. Geoff Hunt won his second title defeating Mo Yasin in the final with a walkover. Mohammed Yasin had to concede the final because of a badly sprained ankle and therefore did not compete, this was the first time a final could not be held since 1934. As a consolation the crowd was treated to Hunt against Barrington in an exhibition match. Cam Nancarrow
Cam Nancarrow, born 9 April 1945 in Sydney, is a former squash player from Australia, who was one of the game's leading world players in the 1960s and 1970s. State and national representative career Nancarrow made the New South Wales men's team in the 1960s and he was a part of their legacy when between 1958 and 1973 members of that team won 78 consecutive matches at Australian carnivals. Nancarrow, Ken Hiscoe, Ted Hamilton, Lionel Robberds and others participated in that time in the four men squad which eventually recorded a loss to Queensland in 1974. Jahangir Khan (Pashto/ ur, جهانگير خان born 10 December 1963) is a former World No. 1 professional Pakistani squash player. He won the World Open title six times , and the British Open title ten times (1982-1991). Jahangir Khan is widely regarded as the greatest squash player of all time. Sport Australia Hall Of Fame
The Sport Australia Hall of Fame was established on 10 December 1985 to recognise the achievements of Australian sportsmen and sportswomen. The inaugural induction included 120 members with Sir Don Bradman as the first inductee and Dawn Fraser the first female inductee. In 1989, the Hall of Fame was expanded to include associate members who have assisted in the development of sport in Australia. In 2012, there were 518 members. Each year the Hall of Fame inducts notable retired athletes, associate members and upgrades one member to 'legend' status.
