Gaz (candy)
Gaz ( fa, گز) is an Iranian cuisine, Iranian nougat that originated in Isfahan, Isfahan region. It is widely known as Persian Nougat in American and European countries. It is made from pistachio, almond kernels, rose-water, egg whites and sap from a special plant. Typically gaz is accompanied by tea or Sorbet, sherbet and is eaten as a dessert after a main course. It is also traditionally served on festive occasions such as Nowruz, the Nowruz, Persian New Year. Etymology The Persian word ''Gaz'' is associated with ''gaz-angebin'' which translates to 'Honey of Gaz', in reference to a species of Tamarisk, ''Tamarix gallica, T. gallica'' that is native to the Zagros mountain range located to the west of Isfahan. Gaz is traditionally presumed to be the sap of the Tamarisk tree. Divinity (confectionery)
Divinity is a nougat-like confection made with whipped egg white, corn syrup, and sugar. Optional ingredients such as flavors, chopped dried fruit and chopped nuts are frequently added. Replacing the sugar with brown sugar results in a related confection called "sea foam". History Believed to have originated in the U.S. during the early 1900s, the candy's current form can be traced to a recipe from 1915. Psyllidae, the jumping plant lice or psyllids, are a family of small plant-feeding insects that tend to be very host-specific, i.e. each plant-louse species only feeds on one plant species (monophagous) or feeds on a few closely related plants (oligophagous). Nymph (biology)
In biology, a nymph is the immature form of some invertebrates, particularly insects, which undergoes gradual metamorphosis (hemimetabolism) before reaching its adult stage. Honeydew (secretion)
Honeydew is a sugar-rich sticky liquid, secreted by aphids and some scale insects as they feed on plant sap. When their mouthpart penetrates the phloem, the sugary, high-pressure liquid is forced out of the anus of the aphid. Honeydew is particularly common as a secretion in hemipteran insects and is often the basis for trophobiosis. Some caterpillars of Lycaenidae butterflies and some moths also produce honeydew. Honeydew producing insects, like cicadas, pierce phloem ducts to access the sugar rich sap. The sap continues to bleed after the insects have moved on, leaving a white sugar crust called manna.
