Gavin Love
Gavin Love (born 2 June 1978 in Plymouth, England) is a former British professional basketball player and current head coach of Etzella of the Luxembourg Basketball League. Playing career Love was educated at Plymouth Marjon University (then called College of St. Mark & St. John) and played for his hometown team Plymouth Raiders from 1996, and the first team since 2000 until his retirement in 2009. As a point guard, Love played 371 times for Raiders during his career, making him the club's all-time leading appearance maker. Love featured as part of a dominant Raiders team in the early 2000s, winning the NBL Division 1 in 2001 and 2004, as well as the English National Cup in 2004 and the BBL Trophy in 2007. In 2007, Love earned a call-up to the Great Britain national team coached by Chris Finch, only to pull out after badly damaging his Achilles tendon in the final game of the league campaign, and had to undergo an operation and lengthy rehabilitation period. Plymouth
Plymouth () is a port city and unitary authority in South West England. It is located on the south coast of Devon, approximately south-west of Exeter and south-west of London. Gary Stronach
The Plymouth Raiders was a professional basketball team based in Plymouth, England. The team competed in the British Basketball League, the country's premier basketball competition. The club was founded in 1983 through a merger between two local basketball clubs and went on to be the longest-serving and most successful team in Division 1 of the English Basketball League. Between 1996 and 2004, Plymouth Raiders won six different competitions, including three National Basketball League Play-off titles and the National Cup in 2004. After several years of dominating the EBL, in 2004 the Raiders moved up to the franchise-based British Basketball League, pitting themselves against the country's elite teams. 2017–18 British Basketball League Season
The 2017–18 BBL season was the 31st campaign of the British Basketball League since the league's establishment in 1987. The season featured 12 teams from across England and Scotland. The Leicester Riders became regular season champions for the third season in succession, winning 104–75 against Plymouth Raiders at the Plymouth Pavilions on 8 April 2018. The Riders then added the playoff title with an 81–60 win over the London Lions in the final. This victory gave Rob Paternostro's team a second consecutive treble, having won the BBL Trophy earlier in the campaign.
