GarageGames was a game technology and software developer. GarageGames was the parent company of GG Interactive, developers of educational technology in the areas of computer science, video game development and programming. In addition, the company has been a video game developer and publisher. GarageGames created several game engines targeted for indie development. Founded in Eugene, Oregon, the company had offices in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States and its headquarters in Vancouver, Washington. In 2007, GarageGames was acquired by IAC and the company was renamed TorquePowered. In 2011, the company was purchased by Graham Software Development and reverted to the original name GarageGames. History GarageGames was founded in Eugene, Oregon in 2000 by Jeff Tunnell, Tim Gift, Rick Overman, and Mark Frohnmayer. Torque Game Engine, or TGE, is an open-source cross-platform 3D computer game engine, developed by GarageGames and actively maintained under the current versions Torque 3D as well as Torque 2D. It was originally developed by Dynamix for the 2001 first-person shooter ''Tribes 2''. In September 2012, GarageGames released Torque 3D as open-source software under the MIT License. Torque 3D features a world editor suite including tools for sculpting terrain and painting forests, drawing rivers and roads, as well as material, particle and decal editing. It supports the open COLLADA file format as interface to 3D digital content creation software. Jeff Tunnell
Jeffrey Tunnell is a video game producer, programmer and designer. In 1984 he founded Dynamix with Damon Slye in Eugene, Oregon. In 1990, Tunnell left Dynamix to start Jeff Tunnell Productions. Tunnell would go on to create famous brands such as '' The Incredible Machine'', '' Trophy Bass'', and the ''3-D Ultra Pinball'' series while at Jeff Tunnell Productions. These products were some of the most successful retail products to be published by Dynamix. In 1993, ''Sid & Al's Incredible Toons'' earned Tunnell and Chris Cole a patent for the game's concepts. In 1995, Tunnell returned to Dynamix in a leadership role. In 2001, after Dynamix was disbanded, Tunnell co-founded GarageGames, an independent video game publisher, which is also the developer of the Torque Game Engine. Marble Blast Ultra
''Marble Blast Ultra'' is a 3D puzzle action game involving a marble developed by GarageGames. It was released on January 25, 2006 for the Xbox 360 via Xbox Live Arcade. It is the sequel to ''Marble Blast Gold''. It features 60 levels, enhanced graphics, 2 new power-ups and a multiplayer mode. A PC port of the game under the title ''Marble Blast Online'' was available at InstantAction until the website was shut down. As of year-end 2010, ''Marble Blast Ultra'' has sold over 756,000 copies. Gameplay In Single player mode, the player has the main goal of reaching the finish pad of the level as fast as possible. Mark Frohnmayer
Mark Frohnmayer is a software and electric vehicle entrepreneur. He was the lead programmer of '' Starsiege: Tribes'' and ''Tribes 2'' at Dynamix before leaving to co-found GarageGames, where he helped architect the Torque Game Engine and led the development of Zap! The Game, Marble Blast Gold and Marble Blast Ultra. He has since started Arcimoto based in Eugene, Oregon, which designs and sells a three-wheeled electric vehicle.
