Gaerwen Football Club ( cy, Clwb Pêl Droed Gaerwen) is a Welsh football team based in Gaerwen, Anglesey, Wales. The team currently play in the North Wales Coast West Football League Division One, which is at the fifth tier of the Welsh football league system. History In 2010–11 the club joined the newly formed Welsh Alliance League Division Two, and played in the league until the end of the 2019–20 season, with a best placed finish of fourth place in that season. The club then joined the newly formed North Wales Coast Football League in the West Premier Division. The club is affiliated to the North Wales Coast Football Association and Football Association of Wales. Gaerwen
Gaerwen () is a village on the island of Anglesey in the community of Llanfihangel Ysgeifiog. It is located in the south of the island west of Llanfairpwllgwyngyll and southeast of Llangefni . The A5 runs through the village, and the A55 runs just a few hundred metres north. According to the 2011 Census Gaerwen is now listed by the Office for National Statistics as Llanfihangel Ysgeifiog. The population of the community is 1,551. Gaerwen and Pentre Berw, Llangaffo are trio villages. The village gets its name from a combination of the Welsh words ''Caer'' (mutated to ''Gaer''), meaning 'fortification', and ''Wen'', meaning 'white'. There are no clear remains of a fort in the area, although the name was originally that of a farm in the area, before becoming the name for the entire settlement. The North Wales Coast West Football League is a football league in Wales, at tiers 4 and 5 of the Welsh football league system in North Wales, founded in 2020. The league is under the control of the North Wales Coast Football Association. The league replaced the former Gwynedd League and Anglesey Leagues, and covers the North West of Wales. The Welsh football league system (or pyramid) is a series of football leagues with regular promotion and relegation between them. While most Welsh clubs play in the Welsh pyramid and most clubs in that pyramid are Welsh, five Welsh clubs play in England, and four English clubs play in Wales.
