Gabrielle Lutz (4 February 1935 – 3 August 2011) was a French sprint canoeist who competed in the 1960s. She was born in Mulhouse. The women's K-1 500 metres event was an individual kayaking event conducted as part of the Canoeing at the 1960 Summer Olympics program on Lake Albano. Medalists Results Heats 15 competitors entered, but only 13 competed. They first raced in two heats on August 26. The top three finishers from each of the heats advanced directly to the semifinal on the 27th while the rest competed in the repechages the 26th. Repechages The seven competitors raced in two repechages on August 26. The top three finishers from each of the repechages advanced directly to the semifinal on the following day. The 1960 Summer Olympics ( it, Giochi Olimpici estivi del 1960), officially known as the Games of the XVII Olympiad ( it, Giochi della XVII Olimpiade) and commonly known as Rome 1960 ( it, Roma 1960), were an international multi-sport event held from 25 August to 11 September 1960 in Rome, Italy. Rome had previously been awarded the administration of the 1908 Summer Olympics, but following the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 1906, the city had no choice but to decline and pass the honour to London. The Soviet Union won the most gold and overall medals at the 1960 Games. Host city selection On 15 June 1955, at the 50th IOC Session in Paris, France, Rome won the rights to host the 1960 Games, having beaten Brussels, Mexico City, Tokyo, Detroit, Budapest and finally Lausanne.
