Gérard Jouannest
Gérard Jouannest (2 May 1933 – 16 May 2018) was a French pianist and composer. Early life Jouannest was born on 2 May 1933 in Vanves near Paris. His father was a piano manufacturer. Jouannest graduated from the Conservatoire de Paris in 1954. During the Algerian War, he served in the French Army, although he was based in Meknes, Morocco. Career Jouannest began his career as a pianist in music halls. He later worked as a pianist for François Rauber. In 1959, he was introduced to Jacques Brel by music producer Jacques Canetti, and he worked for Brel for nearly a decade. It was Brel who introduced Jouannest to his future wife, singer Juliette Gréco in 1968, and Jouannest played the piano for Greco during the rest of his career. Jouannest composed more than 250 songs over the course of his life. Vanves
Vanves () is a commune in the southwestern suburbs of Paris, France. It is located from the centre of Paris. It is one of the most densely populated municipalities in Europe and the tenth in France History On 1 January 1860, the city of Paris was enlarged by annexing neighboring communes. On that occasion, about a third of the commune of Vanves was annexed to Paris, and forms now essentially the neighborhood of Plaisance, in the 14th arrondissement of Paris. On 8 November 1883, about half of the territory of Vanves was detached and became the commune of Malakoff. ''Ces gens-là'' ( en, Those people) is the ninth studio album by Jacques Brel. Also known as ''Jef'', it was released in 1966 by Barclay (80323). The album was reissued on 23 September 2003 under the title ''Ces Gens-Là'' as part of the 16-CD box set '' Boîte à Bonbons'' by Barclay (980 817-2). Track listing * Tracks 1–10 constituted the original 1966 album. * Tracks 11–14 were originally issued on EP Barclay 70907 EP 45, of which the orchestral sessions were recorded on 8 January 1963, with separate vocals by Brel added later. Presidential elections in France, Presidential elections were held in France on 22 April 2012 (or 21 April in some overseas departments and territories), with a second round Two-round system, run-off held on 6 May (or 5 May for those same territories) to elect the President of France (who is also ''ex officio'' one of the Co-Princes of Andorra, two joint heads of state of Andorra, a sovereign state). Jean-Luc Antoine Pierre Mélenchon (; born 19 August 1951) is a French politician who was a member of the National Assembly for the 4th constituency of Bouches-du-Rhône from 2017 to 2022. He led the ''La France Insoumise'' group in the National Assembly from 2017 to 2021. Mélenchon has run three times in elections for president of France; in 2012 and 2017, and a strong third in the 2022 election, where he narrowly missed continuing on to the second round in France's two-round voting system. Abd Al Malik (rapper)
Abd al Malik, born Régis Fayette-Mikano is a French rapper and spoken word artist of Congolese origin. He has also authored books in French, and directed a film adaptation of one of his books. Musical career In NAP: New African Poets Talented in words and music, he formed with his brother Bilal and his cousin Aissa, a rap group they called New African Poets also known by the abbreviation N.A.P. Other members included Mustapha, Mohammed and Karim, all from the neighborhood where he lived. Most of the group come from the Neuhof quartier of Strasbourg. Having converted from Christianity to Islam, he took on the stage name Abd al Malik. This was an adaptation of his birth name Régis, being derived from ''rex'' meaning "king" in Latin whereas ''Malik'' means "king" in Arabic. Benjamin Biolay (; born 20 January 1973) is a French singer, musician, songwriter, record producer and actor.
