	Gåstorget Gåstorget (Swedish: "Goose Square") is a small public square in Gamla stan, the old town in central Stockholm, Sweden, situated between the two alleys Överskärargränd and Gåsgränd. History Starting in 1730 as a proposal from the City Architect J E Carlberg (1683-1773), turning spaces for horse-drawn vehicles were being created on various locations in the city, mostly for the purpose of facilitating fire fighting, and in 1796 such a space was created on the present location. Though the square wasn't given an official name, it was occasionally referred to as either ''Gåsplan'' ("Goose Plane") or ''Gåsgtorget'', and as proposal in 1981 to name the square after the troubadour Evert Taube Axel Evert Taube (; 12 March 1890 – 31 January 1976) was a Swedish author, artist, composer and singer. 	Gåsgränd Gåsgränd (Swedish: "Goose Alley") is an alley in Gamla stan, the old town in central Stockholm, Sweden. Connecting the streets Västerlånggatan, Stora Nygatan, and Lilla Nygatan, it forms a parallel street to Ignatiigränd and Överskärargränd, and leads down to the square Munkbron on the western waterfront of the old town. On the upper stretch of the alley is a small square, Gåstorget. History In the 15th and 16th century, the alley was named ''Grågåsens gränd'' ("Alley of the Grey-Goose") after a woman, Ragnhild Grågås, who lived in the alley around 1500. 	Överskärargränd Överskärargränd is an alley in Gamla stan, the old town in central Stockholm, Sweden. Stretching from Västerlånggatan to Stora Nygatan passing on the south side of Gåstorget, it forms a parallel street to Gåsgränd and Sven Vintappares Gränd. History The alley was named ''Erik Ingemundssons gränd'' ("Alley of Erik Ingemundsson") in 1619, in reference to the mayor (1581–1622) who owned a property in the alley. While the present name appears in historical records as ''Öfwerskiärare gränden'' in 1684, and a certain ''Absalon överskärare'' is mentioned in 1643 as having bought a property near that of the mayor, it remains uncertain which of the masters of the trade gave his name to the alley. 	Sven Vintappares Torg Vera Siöcronas Torg (Swedish "Square of Vera Siöcrona") is a small public square in Gamla stan, the old town in central Stockholm, Sweden. North and south of the square are the alleys Sven Vintappares Gränd and Didrik Ficks Gränd, both leading to Västerlånggatan and Stora Nygatan. Like the neighbouring square Gåstorget situated a block further north and several other small open spaces in the old town, Sven Vintappares Torg, which was its name before 2018, was created during the 18th century as a turning space for horse-drawn vehicles, which was badly needed in the narrow medieval urban throng.
