Gwen Munro
Gwendolyn Mina Munro (30 November 1913 – 6 April 1970) was an Australian actress best known for playing the female lead in ''Orphan of the Wilderness'' (1936). Biography Munro was born in Hobart, Tasmania on 30 November 1913. She grew up in privileged circumstances in Toorak, Melbourne and was partly educated in Switzerland and a finishing school in Paris. On returning to Australia she entered a beauty contest being held by Paramount and won. The prize included a small part in the Hollywood film, ''Search for Beauty'' (1934). While in Los Angeles Munro also played the lead role in a production at the Pasadena Playhouse of ''Dear Bill'' by Australian writer Jim Warwick. Munro returned to Australia, where she performed on stage in ''The Wind and the Rain'' for J.C. Williamson Ltd. She then received an offer to make ''Orphan of the Wilderness'' for Ken G. Orphan Of The Wilderness
''Orphan of the Wilderness'' is a 1936 Australian feature film from director Ken G. Hall about the adventures of a boxing kangaroo. It starred Brian Abbot who disappeared at sea not long after filming completed. Synopsis Chut is a kangaroo whose mother is killed by hunters. He wanders through the bush and eventually arrives at a homestead, where he is befriended by a farmer, Tom Henton. Years later, Tom puts Chut in a travelling circus run by Shorty McGee. Tom's girlfriend Margot performs in the circus and says she'll look after Chut. McGee trains Chut as a boxing kangaroo and becomes famous around Australia. Neither Margot or Tom are aware that Shorty whips the kangaroo prior to bouts. One day Chut fights back against McGree and takes off into the bush, pursued by men with rifles and dogs. The Pasadena Playhouse is a historic performing arts venue located 39 S. El Molino Avenue in Pasadena, California, United States. The 686-seat auditorium produces a variety of cultural and artistic events, professional shows, and community engagements each year. Noel Monkman
Noel Monkman (1896–1969) was an Australian filmmaker, born in New Zealand, best known for specialising in underwater photography. He was a press photographer in New Zealand before moving to Australia and jointing the Orpheum Theatre orchestra. He established Australian Educational Films with F.W. Thring, directing a series of educational nature films about the Great Barrier Reef. He later made several documentaries as well as two dramatic feature films. He collaborated throughout his career with his wife Kitty. He and Kitty lived for a time on Green Island, acting as a volunteer air observer during World War II.
