Gwadar Protest
Gwadar protest is a current ongoing protest from 15 November 2021 on Gwadar's Port Road led by Maulana Hidayat ur Rehman Baloch and other leaders. Thousands of women along with their infants and children are protesting and want free access to the sea for fishermen, an end to harassment by the Coast Guard, seizure of vehicles and closure of trades at the border. Gwadar
Gwadar ( Balochi/ ur, ) is a port city with located on the southwestern coast of Balochistan, Pakistan. The city is located on the shores of the Arabian Sea opposite Oman. Gwadar is the 100th largest city of Pakistan, according to the 2017 census. It was an overseas possession of Oman from 1783 to 1958. It is about southwest of Turbat, while the sister port city of Chabahar in Iran's Sistan and Baluchestan province is about to the west of Gwadar. On 2 April 2021, Gwadar was declared the capital of the South Balochistan region. The main industrial concern is a fish-processing factory. Gwadar became part of the sultanate of Muscat and Oman in 1797, and it was not until 1958 that the town and adjoining hinterland were exchanged from Oman to Pakistan. For most of its history, Gwadar was a small to medium-sized settlement with an economy largely based on artisanal fishing. Hidayat Ur Rehman Baloch
Maulana Hidayat Rahman Baloch is a Pakistani politician and social activist from Gwadar from Balochistan. He is currently serving as the provincial general secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami Balochistan chapter. Baloch is also known for the Gwadar protest and for his leadership in the Haq Do Tehreek (HDT), a movement advocating for the rights of the people of Gwadar. He was elected to the Provincial Assembly of Balochistan from the Gwadar constituency in 2024. Early life Hidayat ur Rehman Baloch was born and grew up in Surbandan, a small coastal town in Gwadar District.
