Guy Welton
Guy Welton (born 4 May 1978) was an English cricketer. He was a right-handed batsman and a right-arm off-break bowler. He played First-class cricket for Nottinghamshire, and also played for Lincolnshire, and Derbyshire's Second XI. Prior to beginning in first-class cricket, he played for Worcestershire's Second XI, debuting with a duck in an innings defeat against Surrey. He played extensively with the Second XI teams of Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire, and played his debut First-class match in 1997. Despite appearing early in his Second XI career as a tailend batsman, he began his first-class career as a powerful and sometimes high-scoring hitter. Cricket
Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Means of dismissal include being bowled, when the ball hits the stumps and dislodges the bails, and by the fielding side either catching the ball after it is hit by the bat, but before it hits the ground, or hitting a wicket with the ball before a batter can cross the crease in front of the wicket. Derbyshire County Cricket Club
Derbyshire County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Derbyshire. Its limited overs team is called the Derbyshire Falcons in reference to the famous peregrine falcon which nests on the Derby Cathedral (it was previously called the Derbyshire Scorpions until 2005 and the Phantoms until 2010). Caythorpe Cricket Club
Caythorpe Cricket Club was founded in 1880. It is an amateur English Cricket Club based in the village of Caythorpe, Nottinghamshire. The club competes in the Nottinghamshire Cricket Board Premier League, which is an accredited ECB Premier League, winning the league title in 2006. The club has also reached the semi-final of the ECB National Club Cricket Championship in 2005 and 2006 and won the Derbyshire Premier League Cup in 2009. Caythorpe has four Saturday sides and a Sunday team, as well as many junior teams as part of its setup. The 1st XI compete in the Nottinghamshire Cricket Board Premier League, winning the title in 2006.
