Guy Seymour Warre Malet
Guy Seymour Warre Malet (1900–1973) was an English landscape and figure engraver, printmaker, watercolourist and oil painter. He spent a large portion of his life on the island of Sark and many of his images are of the Channel Islands. Malet studied at the London and New Art School under Eastman and John Hassall, and at the Grosvenor School of Modern Art under Iain MacNab. He exhibited at the Royal Academy, the Royal Society of British Artists, the Society of Wood Engravers and the New English Art Club. Malet lived in London, Seaford in Sussex and finally in Ditchling. York
York is a cathedral city with Roman origins, sited at the confluence of the rivers Ouse and Foss in North Yorkshire, England. It is the historic county town of Yorkshire. The city has many historic buildings and other structures, such as a minster, castle, and city walls. It is the largest settlement and the administrative centre of the wider City of York district. Ditchling Museum of Art + Craft is located in Ditchling, East Sussex, England (, OS Grid Reference TQ 32486 15293). It specialises in showcasing the artists and craftspeople who made Ditchling a creative hub in the 20th century, such as Eric Gill, the sculptor, printmaker and typeface designer, Edward Johnston, designer of the London Underground font, and printer Hilary Pepler. These artisans were associated with The Guild of St Joseph and St Dominic, an offshoot of the Arts and Crafts movement. The museum is located in the centre of the village just below Saint Margaret's Church on a site that was founded in 1985 by sisters Hilary and Joanna Bourne as a place to display their collection of local artworks. The National Railway Museum is a museum in York forming part of the Science Museum Group. The museum tells the story of rail transport in Britain and its impact on society. It is the home of the national collection of historically significant railway vehicles such as LNER Class A4 4468 Mallard, Mallard, GNR Stirling 4-2-2, Stirling Single, LMS Princess Coronation Class 6229 Duchess of Hamilton, Duchess of Hamilton and a Japanese Shinkansen, bullet train.
