Gunboat (video Game)
''Gunboat'' is a simulation video game developed and released by Accolade in 1990 for MS-DOS. Ports were released for the Amstrad CPC, ZX Spectrum, Amiga and TurboGrafx-16. It is a combat simulator of a Patrol Boat, River (PBR). Gameplay ''Gunboat' begins in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. When the player earns a second lieutenant's bar, the game moves on to fighting drug kingpins in Colombia. After achieving the grade of lieutenant commander, the player patrols the Panama Canal Zone. The player uses the keyboard, the function keys, and the joystick to move through stations aboard the patrol boat, including the pilot, stern gunner, and midship gunner. The pilot controls the searchlights and the speed of the boat, identify targets for the gunners, and command the crew to open fire or cease fire. Accolade (company)
Accolade, Inc. (later Infogrames North America, Inc.) was an American video game developer and publisher based in San Jose, California. The company was founded as Accolade in 1984 by Alan Miller and Bob Whitehead, who had previously co-founded Activision in 1979. The company became known for numerous sports game series, including ''HardBall!, Jack Nicklaus'' and ''Test Drive''. By the early 1990s, Accolade saw critical acclaim for '' Star Control'' (1990), as well as strong sales for ''Bubsy'' (1993). However, Sega sued Accolade for creating unauthorized Sega Genesis games by reverse-engineering the console's boot-protection. Amstrad was a British electronics company, founded in 1968 by Alan Sugar at the age of 21. The name is a contraction of Alan Michael Sugar Trading. GameFAQs is a website that hosts FAQs and walkthroughs for video games. It was created in November 1995 by Jeff Veasey and was bought by CNET Networks in May 2003. It is currently owned by Fandom, Inc. since October 2022. The site has a database of video game information, cheat codes, reviews, game saves, box art images, and screenshots, almost all of which are submitted by volunteer contributors. The systems covered include the 8-bit Atari platform through modern consoles, as well as computer games and mobile games. Submissions made to the site are reviewed by the site's current editor, Allen "SBAllen" Tyner. GameFAQs hosts an active message board community, which has a separate discussion board for each game in the site's database, along with a variety of other boards.
